Chapter 524
Lisa wasn’t going to let him go that easily. Instead, her words became
harsher and harsher.
It got so bad that Westley lost control of himself and barked, “So many years have come and gone, but you haven’t changed in the least! You’re still so mean and nasty!”
Lisa was about to retort when she heard footsteps from the door. It was the sound of leather shoes stepping on the marble floor, crisp and pleasant.
It was Mason.
Both of them shut their mouths and didn’t say another word.
Walking in slowly, Mason stared at them quietly. After a brief moment, he asked, “Why did you guys stop? You were fighting with/ each other quite fiercely. Go on. Arguing activates your brain cells, which, in turn, helps stave off dementia!”
Then, he climbed upstairs to get changed.
Both Westley and Lisa blamed each other for that.
She sneered, “You must’ve been sick in the head to sleep with someone like Dewetta.”
He retorted, agitated, “She’s behind bars now, Lisa! Go ahead and look into it if you don’t believe me.”
That stunned her.
A moment later, she felt a pang of guilt.

It was nine in the morning when Mason walked into his office. Ava was giving him updates about work, but he raised his hand and gestured for her to stop speaking. “Get me a private eye. I need to investigate someone.”
She knew it was about what happened last night. Naturally, she asked
who was the target.
Leaning back on the leather chair, he shielded his eyes from the light and said dryly, “That’d be Lila Gernon. She’s my aunt. I want to know where she’s been for the past week. I need an absolute answer for
that.”
That shocked her.
She couldn’t believe Mason suspected that Lila murdered Dr. Jürgen,
It blew her mind.
Lila came from a wealthy and powerful family. Back then, she married a renowned artist in Edo City and had a lovely marriage. Her husband passed away four years later, but it was unthinkable for her to have an affair with someone like Dr. Jürgen. After all, he was too far below
her in terms of status.
Lowering her voice, she said, “Are you sure, Mr. Mason?”
Sitting upright, he looked at her quietly and said softly, “Don’t turn this into a big deal. No one knows about this and I intend to keep it that way. I want my answers by noon.”
Nodding, she left to do his bidding.
Ava was extremely loyal to him. On top of that, she was very capable as well. It should’ve come as no surprise that she had gotten the answers Mason wanted from a private eye in less than a couple of hours.
Mason flipped through the report, page by page.

Lila took a flight to Edo City a couple of days ago. There were records detailing her whereabouts from the airport to the cab as well as the hotel. In fact, there were also pictures. They were genuine and it was
indeed Lila!
He checked the pictures countless times.
In the end, he raised his head slightly and gulped.
Evidence suggested that Lila couldn’t have been the murderer!
Now that the prime suspect had an alibi, Dr. Jürgen’s homicidal case was without a lead. Well, then. Who had sex with Dr. Jürgen before murdering him brutally last night?
This couldn’t be right. He must’ve been missing something!
Raising his eyes, he looked at Ava and ordered, “Send word to the human resources department. Reassign Westley to the director’s office. From here on out, he’ll be your assistant!”
She forced a smile in response. As if she’d ever dare give Westley any orders!
At that moment, Westley was holed up in a cramped office. It was merely a little over two hundred and ten square feet, but it housed eight staff here. His desk was in the far corner.
His health wasn’t fantastic. So, his manager didn’t quite like him.
With the trouble that Dewetta stirred up, nobody knew what the truth looked like. So, the manager was so happy that he finally found a reasonable excuse to fire Westley. Then, he’d be able to arrange a job for his brother-in-law.
He knocked on Westley’s desk just before lunchtime.
Raising his eyes, Westley asked politely, “Is there anything you need, sir?”

Pointing at his stuff, the manager said briefly, “Pack up your stuff and hand in your resignation! You’ve worked here for about three years. The company’s going to pay you a severance compensation and an extra month’s salary.”
That stunned Westley. “Did I do anything wrong?”
The manager grinned wryly, “Are you seriously asking me this? Your incident with Dewetta caused such a mess. Don’t think about claiming you’re innocent. I won’t believe it. After all, everything happens for a reason.
“Both of you have done considerable damage to the company’s reputation. So, on behalf of the company, you’re fired!”
