Chapter 22 Her Determination
Currently, public opinion in Verde City was escalating rapidly.
Having experienced it once before, Natalie naturally knew what lay ahead for her, with everything echoing her past life. As long as she remained married to Cedric, those people would never find peace.
Her only way out now was to distance herself…
She suspected that Isabella’s legs and eyes were perfectly fine. Those people were currently trying to drive her insane, believing that Cedric would also demand a divorce.
They would never consider that she, who relied solely on Cedric, would leave of her own volition. So, temporarily leaving Verde City was also a counterattack against them.
“Shall come to see you off?”
“No need. You have your own things to do. And…” Natalie thought momentarily and continued, “If Cedric threatens you because of the divorce, don’t resist it. I have a plan.”
“I’m not afraid of him!” declared Bianca in a noticeably firmer tone.
Natalie rubbed her temples and closed her eyes. “I know you’re not, but I am.”
Ever since Cedric took over the Johnson family, he had been an unpredictable figure to the outside world. If there was one person he had shown warmth to, it was her.

She didn’t want Bianca to be implicated because of her.
“I will definitely see this through to the end,” Bianca insisted, even though she knew this lawsuit wouldn’t
be easy.
Natalie felt touched by Bianca’s determination.
On the way to the airport, Natalie received a call from Rebecca, who sounded quite agitated.
“Natalie, who do you think you are to file for divorce? Withdraw the lawsuit immediately.”

Natalie rolled down the car window, letting in the cold wind that chilled her to the bone.
“What for? Are you planning to hand me a check?” she responded in a slightly hostile tone.
Was Rebecca trying to buy her marital rights for the past three years through such ordinary means? Was the older woman going to use the most common methods to continuously trample on her?
“Natalie!” Rebecca screamed in anger.
“If your son was willing to sign the divorce papers, would I really need to take him to court? Don’t call me again. Talk to your son!”
Having said that, Natalie hung up immediately.
The cold wind blew away the bitterness in her eyes, leaving her feeling relieved. No one knew what it felt like to suddenly rise up after years of oppression. Maybe there was some fear… But more than that, there
was a sense of relief.
Since waking up this morning, she had done so many unbelievable things. Each one was something she had always wanted to do, but couldn’t, out of consideration for Cedric.
At Johnson Manor, Rebecca was fuming.

“Okay, I got it. She’ll eventually leave our family. Don’t be angry, okay?”
“If your brother were half as obedient and dutiful as you, this woman wouldn’t be causing trouble. It makes me so angry!”
At the airport, Natalie checked her email. She had received a report from a previous examination she had
done.
People were still discussing her online, and the cyberbullies continued to send her threats. They believed she was a heartless person for harming her husband’s mistress so badly just because he had cheated. It had been several days, but those people were still not satisfied.
Somewhere else, a phone displayed an incoming call from an unknown number.
“Hello, this is Verde City Entertainment News!”
“I have some information related to the recent news about the Johnson family. Are you interested?” said
Natalie.
Right after Natalie ended that call, she received a call from Cedric
“Hello.”
“Where are you?” the man asked in a tone devoid of warmth.
“It’s none of your business,” Natalie replied.
Sounding somewhat irritated, he said, “Don’t you know what’s going on outside right now? Hurry back.”
It was clear that he had learned Natalie wasn’t in Scarlet Villa anymore. She had left during the staff and
butler’s off–hours, so no one had seen her with her luggage.
“Send me your location. I’ll have a driver pick you up.”
Natalie closed her eyes.
Was he concerned about her? Was he worried that she might be harmed by those extremists? After all, the public was clamoring about her morality right now. If she hadn’t experienced it once before, she might have believed it.
But now, she felt not even a hint of gratitude at his words or actions.
