Chapter 52 Cedric’s Defeat
As dawn broke, Natalie’s team members, who had been working several days of overtime, let out sighs of
relief when she said they were done.
They didn’t bother returning home and just fell asleep where they sat
“Are you sure it’ll work?”
Karina still had some doubts. Although she didn’t care too much about this particular deal, they had put in several all–nighters. Naturally, she didn’t want it to go to waste.
Natalie nodded. “Yes, I’m sure it will.”

Karina nodded in response and closed her computer before sipping her coffee. After several all–nighters, the coffee had lost its effectiveness in keeping them awake.

When Natalie arrived at Apex Global, the receptionist noticed her flushed face and asked concernedly,”
Are you okay?”
Natalie shook her head. “I’m fine.”
In reality, she had a fever. She felt drowsy and unwell.
The receptionist glanced at the time. “It’s still early. Why don’t you go eat something first?”
Natalie shook her head. “It’s fine.”
She could eat once she was done with things here, Anyway, she was sure she couldn’t stomach anything.

Natalie gave the receptionist a grateful look. Until now, she didn’t even know the receptionist’s name.

He walked toward the elevator. Dylan followed behind, and he said to Natalie, “Come on, keep up.”
Natalie quickly followed suit and gave the receptionist another grateful look.
In the elevator, the sphere was somewhat stifling. Natalie stood in the comer, trying to take up as
little space as possible.
But Irwin’s imposing figure still made it hard for her to breathe.
Once they entered his office, Irwin sat down. He opened his laptop and loosened his tie. His actions

When Natalie noticed this, she felt her heart stop.
When someone was in a bad mood, they could be more critical.
“These are the changes we made last night. Please review them.” She placed the document folder on his large desk and pushed it toward him.
Irwin took the folder, opened it, and began reviewing the papers in his hand.
His actions seemed rushed, as if he was only skimming through the documents.
Natalie’s breathing quickened, and her thoughts were a whirlwind. She struggled to find the right words to
say to him.
However, the oppressive atmosphere coming from the man in front of her made it impossible for her to organize her thoughts and guide the conversation effectively after his expected rejection.
“Do you have a cold?”
“Huh?”
When the man spoke, Natalie felt as though her heart was about to shatter!
His off–topic question caught her off guard.
Quickly nodding, she said, “Yes.”
Indeed, she couldn’t let herself be troubled by someone who wasn’t worth it. Ultimately, she would be the
one suffering and not that person.
Irwin’s slender fingers looked graceful, even if all he was doing was flipping through the papers. His
presence became even more melancholic as time passed.

Irwin packed the documents back into the folder and handed it to Natalie.

Revising drafts was indeed frustrating.

The man stood up. He was so tall that Natalie, who was already uneasy, felt even more intimidated.

“To the hospital,” Irwin replied as he headed out of his office.
Natalie’s mind momentarily went blank, and she struggled to react.

When she stood up, her petite frame made her look like a little girl in front of Irwin. The man lowered his head, looking down at her from his towering height. His eyes were mysterious and incomprehensible.
