Chapter 57 She’s Happy at His Defeat 

The way she looked when she smoked was incredibly alluring! 

Because of her petite stature, it didn’t convey the authoritative aura often associated with smoking. Instead, it was a unique blend of elegance and charm that was distinctly hers. 

In his presence, she had always been poised and refined. She had never smoked or drank. 

But now, her demeanor while holding the cigarette and the emotions reflected in her exude the solitude that came after enduring the ups and downs of life.

infuriating. 

Natalie continued, “You could tell at a glance that she’s a proper lady. You two would make a perfect 

match, you know? Your mother does have good taste.”

Cedric could no longer contain his rage. His face felt like it would be permanently distorted from the anger he had been through recently. 

On the other hand, Natalie spoke in a carefree manner that 

suggested she didn’t care about this matter. 

“Say, do you think that woman would trade her eyes to be your wife?” 

Cedric’s breath hitched at her words. 

“What do you mean by that?” 

“Isn’t this how you’ve always seen me? I didn’t come from a glorious background, yet I married you. That’s 

why your family has been putting me through all sorts of tests during our marriage.” 

The indifference had left Natalle’s tone, and all that was left was only icy determination. 

Cedric continued to watch her, growing uncertain. He had refrained from discussing the matter of her

Natalie extinguished her partially smoked cigarette in the ashtray and stood up. She cast one final glance 

at Cedric before moving to leave. 

Cedric asked, “Where are you going?” 

Natalie stopped and turned slightly. The mocking smile was still on her lips as she said, “Temporary, huh? 

What a joke!” 

Cedric fell silent. 

“Would you dare ask that woman just now to give up her eyesight temporarily so you could save another woman? And that you’d let her be your wife in exchange?” Natalie asked pointedly.

In Natalie’s mind, Cedric had now become just like anyone else from the Johnson family. They all believed she had no background and thought they could exploit her.

‘Dammit!” He kicked the sofa again. 

What the hell was happening? 

In the midst of this turmoil, he had initially wanted Natalie to come back. 

But now, a new pest had popped out, and that was even before he had divorced Natalie! 

Just then, the phone rang. 

Without needing to think about it, Cedric knew it was Rebecca. Normally, he wouldn’t have picked up in 

such an angered state, but he did so today. 

“Hello.” 

“I know you wouldn’t be pleased with my actions, but I’m telling you now… We will never tolerate keeping 

Natalie in our family!” 

Rebecca spoke candidly. She had never cared much for her daughter–in–law all these years. Now that she 

had a chance to get rid of Natalie, she was naturally determined to seize it. 

Cedric’s tone was far from pleasant when he replied, “So, you’ll accept anyone else? Like who? Jocelyn?” 

“Yes, exactly!” 

Despite Cedric’s tone, Rebecca’s tone was no better. ‘If you had listened to me and married Jocelyn back then, would we have had so many issues?” 

Cedric was silent. 

Listen to me! Jocelyn has waited for you for so many years. I don’t care. You have explain yourself to her this time!” 

Cedric’s head throbbed as he listened to Rebecca. 

In the past, he could maintain his composure no matter the circumstances when Natalie was by his side. 

Now, he found himself losing control of his emotions over the slightest disturbances. 

It seemed that the concept of having a happy and harmonious family led to overall well–being and 

success had some truth to it. 

“If you like her so much, then you should do something about it,” Cedric said. 

“What do you mean?” 

Cedric’s words had triggered Rebecca’s anger further. 

“Was I not clear enough?” Cedric said, the irritation in his tone evident. “I won’t divorce Natalie. There’s 

nothing for me to explain to Jocelyn. If you like her so much, you can marry her. I won’t object if you 

choose to spend the rest of your life with her!” 

“You ungrateful child! You’ve lost your mind! You’re truly insane…” Rebecca continued to curse him on the 

phone. 

Cedric hung up the phone. He knew very well what kind of person his mother was. 

Even so, he had left Natalie in the Johnson Manor before this! 

He thought 

Natalie could handle the situation and believed that the two women got along well. 

However, their falling out this time had made him realize how much Natalie had suffered because of his 

mother. 

He had underestimated the situation in the past! 

Rebecca had caused such an embarrassing scene tonight, yet she still had the guts to make such firm 

and assertive demands! 

Such a thing was not something just anyone could do. 

Natalie hadn’t been gone from Scarlet Villa for long when Karina picked her up. 

While in the car, Cedric called her and demanded, “Where are you?” 

Natalie responded sarcastically, “What, you want to crash into my car too? I guess all Johnson family 

men are the same, huh? All of you don’t have any sense of decency or manners.” 

Her tone was full of mockery. 

Cedric had always presented a gentle image in front of her. 

Who would have thought all it took was her getting into Irwin’s car to shatter that image? 

He actually crashed into someone else’s car! 

Natalie had no idea Cedric was capable of such actions. She had severely underestimated him! 

“Natalie, I think we need to talk,” Cedric said in a strained voice. 

Picking her up today had meant he was making concessions in recent events. But the situation with Jocelyn was something he hadn’t anticipated. 

However, Natalie felt nothing for Cedric’s concessions. 

Her response was cold and indifferent, “There’s nothing for us to discuss. Bye now.” 

With that, she hung up. 

That was how their interactions were now. 

It was either Cedric hanging up on Rebecca’s calls or Natalie ending her conversations with him. 

In the past, she was the softer one. Now, she was the tougher and more resolute of the two.
