Chapter 38
“I will try to handle Tiffany and –”
“What will you handle, Alpha Kaiden? This is not the first time I got a backlash from her. First, it was in prison, then it was in the office when she poured hot coffee on me, and now in the pack. Every single time, the pain and torture keep upgrading. I am sorry, but I can’t do this. I rejected my mate for my dignity. You have no meaning in front of that. You can see yourself out,” Anastasia said, and Kaiden looked into her resolute eyes before he nodded.
Anastasia looked at the alpha, who even after everything they felt for each other, wasn’t ready to correct his pack member’s behaviour, and she felt something inside her snap again.
She was his? He will do everything for her and make her his? Anastasia smirked inwardly.
Bullshit.
“Also,” Anastasia looked him straight in the eyes.
“Next time you find someone you can actually be with, first sort out your member’s issues. I am used to abuse, which is not a good thing either, but don’t ruin someone’s life with your love bombs and then ghost her later,” Anastasia said, and Kaiden looked at her one last time before nodding and leaving.
He didn’t know what to say. He felt lost. The marks on her body, the bruises, the handprints, those screams, everything was speaking more than she ever would. Grayson walked inside the tent when he saw the alpha leaving, and seeing his friend on the ground without her top and tears rolling down her cheeks, he sighed.
He didn’t know what happened, but for some reason, he didn’t want to know either.
“Anastasia, don’t cry. Let’s not think about it anymore. You are a brave girl. You have gone through a lot before this and
“Why?” Anastasia looked up, and Grayson paused at the anguish in her eyes.
“Why am I supposed to be the brave girl and suffer alone all the time? Just because I don’t say anything, who gives them a pass to do what they do to me?” Anastasia asked, and Grayson didn’t like where this was going.
He was the second person after Kristine who knew she had a wolf, and though she never changed in front of him, for some reason, he knew her wolf was different from others.
“Why the hell am I supposed to bear all the humiliation?” Anastasia raised her
Voice.
“Grrrrr, a growl left Anastasia’s mouth, and Grayson looked at her with raised
46.00
brows.
“Get away from me,” Anastasia said, her eyes turning the brightest shade of amber- before she ran out of the tent, her anger out of her control this time.
She took it all. Without saying a word, she took all the bullying in her previous pack because she was helpless and didn’t want anything to happen to her mother, but was she helpless now?
Anastasia ran and ran. The only reason she stayed quiet today was because she didn’t want to act on impulse. Probably, she wanted to give Alpha Kaiden a chance, but now that she knows he didn’t do anything to restore her dignity, it looks like she will have to take things into her own hands.
“Tiffany, you made a mistake. You made a mistake,‘ Dione took over Anastasia, laughing a humorless cold laugh.
She remembers hearing they would be going to celebrate their friend’s birthday at the local pub today. It looks like the revenge will be quite a good amount of humiliation for her today.
Anastasia closed her eyes when she felt her wolf’s anger for the third time.
The first time it happened was when her mother had to sacrifice herself to keep their dignity, and she had rejected her mate. The second time it happened was in the pack where the alpha had locked her in the cell, and his son was ready to humiliate her for his pleasure. She ended up pulling the son’s heart out. However, all those times, Dione had never taken over her. She had only transferred her anger into Anastasia’s body, but now that she had started to take over Anastasia’s body, she didn’t know what kind of havoc she would raise. Anastasia was wary of her wolf and wanted to hide her from the world, but maybe it was because she was trying to hide her that she was feeling all this humiliation again and again.
That’s why, today, she freed her wolf from her shackles.
Earlier, she was against her wolf turning, but from today onwards, it would be her and her wolf against the world.
“Dione!” Anastasia shouted, and the wolf nodded before completely taking over, her soft silver paws hitting the ground as they ran towards the lake of the forest. “I want to fly,” Dione said, and Anastasia smirked.
“I don’t see what’s stopping you,” Anastasia smiled, finally giving in to her wolf’s wishes.
If dying is what was written in their destiny, she would die a carefree and happy woman rather than wasting her life being scared of everyone.
Meanwhile, in the council chambers, Derek walked to Draco.
“What is it?” Draco asked, and Derek shook his head.
I don’t know, but I don’t have a good feeling about it. Alpha Kaiden is a monster
and the strongest alpha in the world. I am worried about her,” Derek said.
“Anastasia? What are you worried about? He is a known monster of the werewolf world, but our Anastasia? She is the hidden beast they shouldn’t provoke. Isn’t that the reason the council is helping her plan her revenge in return for her information about all the rogues she is meeting on the way?” Draco asked, and Derek shook his head again.
His brother doesn’t understand. It wasn’t Anastasia particularly that he was afraid of. He was afraid of what she would do if Alpha Kaiden or anyone there provoked her. If her identity comes out, things will turn out sour for her.
“What are you guys talking about?”
They suddenly heard a voice, shaking them in their places, making them turn their heads to the person who entered their room.
“Dad… what are we talking about? Haha, we are just thinking about what the rogue head might be up to and-”
“And for some reason, it involves Anastasia’s identity?” The council head asked, and Derek looked at Draco, pleading with his eye to his brother to handle the
matter.
The latter shook his head before taking a deep breath.
“It’s nothing, Dad. Didn’t we tell you that Alpha Kaiden called to inquire about. Anastasia because she is in that area?
Well, the latest news is that Alpha Kaiden is for some reason obsessed with her truth and mysterious aura, and has forced her to take the job as his secretary, so we are just unsure about everything. What if she gets exposed?” Draco asked, and Derek breathed a sigh of relief.
It would still make their father angry, but it would be at least less than what his father would’ve been if he had revealed the truth. Draco thought.
“She has become the alpha’s secretary? What is she thinking? And you are telling me about this only now? Have you forgotten?” The council head asked their sons, clearly disappointed.
Derek and Draco looked at their father with a confused gaze.
“What have we forgotten, Dad?” Draco asked.
“It’s three months already since she rejected her alpha mate. Her body would naturally want to mate with another alpha. She will have her heart soon, and you know Anastasia is different from others.
Her heart won’t just attract other alphas to her like a magnet, but she would lose her control over her emotions again and again. It should be this week only,” the council head said, and Derek stood from his place.
“We obviously can’t let it happen, Dad. We should leave,” Draco said, and Derek nodded.
They went out of the room to go and prepare for their departure already.
