“I’m leaving now!” Mason cut her off. He probably thought he was too harsh. So, he added, “I’ll spend some time with you when I’m done.”
She smiled and went away to prepare his attire.
The lights came on in the fitting room. She proceeded to pick out
attire for him as well as a tie and a watch. It was the definition of
chic. Lilith was going to regard him with admiration when she saw
him later.
All of a sudden, someone hugged her from behind. Mason wrapped his arms around her waist tightly and buried his face in the back of her neck. His voice was a little husky.
“Are you mad?”
He fondled her a little as he spoke. After all, he was due for some sex.
She caught the faint odor of disinfectant and felt repulsed, but she spoke softly nonetheless.
“Don’t you have an important meeting later? It won’t do if you’re late. Your employees are going to start talking.”
He responded warmly, “Why are you so considerate?”
She was dazed for a second. Her mind traveled back to the lovely days they had a few days ago. She wasn’t made of stone. Of course,
she was fond of it!
Then, she came back to her senses, lowered her gaze, and smiled
faintly. “You’re forgetting something I own a two percent share of the company. So, you can pour as much time as you want into your work while I sit back and relax.”

He chuckled and went away to take a bath before changing into the outfit she picked for him. Zoe was trying on accessories in front of the makeup table when he came out!
She was wearing a dark green dress that gave her an air of
intellectuality and elegance. She wore a pair of earrings and a watch to go along with it.
She looked spectacular.
He was in a hurry, but he couldn’t help but to stop to kiss her ear. He whispered to her lovingly, “I’m going to spend the night here tonight.”
Was Lilith aware that Mason still had sex with her? Was he sure that
Lilith wouldn’t throw a fit if she found out about it?
Zoe would love to ask him these questions if she could, but she chose to just smile and nod.
Mason went downstairs and got into the car. Raising his head, he looked back at his manor with complicated feelings.
He felt that he stirred Zoe’s heart a while ago, but he could also sense that she had withdrawn into her own shell again now. She wouldn’t ask about what he did when he wasn’t with her, and she hadn’t asked anything about Lilith. She was just playing her role as his dutiful wife.
Just like the old days.
Lighting up a cigar, he wondered as the wisp of grey smoke rose. Wasn’t this what he wanted? Why did it feel awful to see that they were actually growing apart?
At that moment, his phone rang. It was Lilith. She spoke very carefully when he answered the phone.
“I’m ready, Mason. What time are you coming over to pick me up?”
He gazed at the second floor briefly before responding,

The black Bentley pulled out of the manor and drove off into the distance under the evening light.
The last thing he had expected was to bump into Zoe at Aiden’s private party. Dressed in the dark, green dress, she looked marvelous.
On the other hand, Zoe wasn’t surprised to see him at all. She stared at him and noticed he was slightly angry. He was dressed in the elegant attire she had handpicked for him that very evening. Pushing Lilith’s wheelchair, both of them looked like a sweet couple.
It was the exact same scene she saw on the television at the hospital that day.
The truth was, nothing had changed since then. They merely took the scenic route, but they ultimately came back to where they started. It was a good thing that she hadn’t completely fallen for his trick. Otherwise, she would’ve felt absolutely devastated by now!
Mason was the first one to speak while their gazes locked with each
other.
“Are you stalking me?”
She lowered her gaze and chuckled. Taking out the invitation from her purse, she raised it and spoke in a gentle, loving voice.
“I told you I wanted to introduce someone important to you tonight. That person is none other than Aiden.”
