In the late night hours, Mason entered the Lockwood Hospital.
He had experienced excessive bleeding.
Even though he tried to conceal it, the doctor treating him could still catch a faint scent of his masculine presence. On top of that, he had casually thrown on a shirt and pants. It was easy to imagine some intense physical activity before coming to the hospital.
The doctor found it difficult to express in words.
While stitching up the wound, he cleared his throat and advised, “Mr. Mason, if this happens again, you need to pause any strenuous activities and come to the hospital immediately. Otherwise, it could lead to complications.”
“I can’t stop.” Mason leaned against the couch, casting a dark glance at Zoe beside him.
She seemed fine, willingly accompanying him to the hospital. Maybe she was here just to gloat at him being in such a state.
Zoe ignored him, engrossed in checking her phone messages. Mason couldn’t help but wonder if she was secretly communicating with that– young guy, exchanging affections behind his back.
As though his thoughts, Zoe spoke casually, “Not everyone is as vulgar and tactless as you.”
Mason sneered. “Even if I’m vulgar, you seem to enjoy it.”
The doctor couldn’t bear to eavesdrop any longer.
Unwilling to listen to Mason’s private matters, he focused on stitching up the six stitches, explaining some precautions, and assuring there

Mason didn’t care. “I’m not a woman. A few scars won’t matter.”
The doctor, looking at his handsome face, couldn’t help but think that sometimes the gifts from heaven were too extravagant and
capricious. Mason was completely indifferent.
Mason decided to stay overnight for observation.
He wanted Zoe to stay with him, but she felt she had done her duty. Once he settled in, she was ready to leave.
As he saw her packing up, Mason stared at her. “Aren’t you staying?”
Zoe hummed. “I’m a bit tired and want to go back to rest. Besides, Lilith is here. She can visit you anytime in her wheelchair. It would be inconvenient if I’m around.”
Mason’s tone turned cold. “I should give you an award for The Most Considerate Wife.”
Zoe mocked, “I only deserve that award because you openly and secretly flirt with Lilith. It gave me a chance to showcase myself.”
Suddenly, she lowered her head, her voice softer.
In a very rational tone, she said, “Let’s stop, Mason. It’s meaningless. Whatever right or wrong or who loved whom between us, it’s all in the past. Mutual harm is unnecessary. Why not let go?”
The bright light illuminated Zoe’s fair face.
She earnestly said, “I hold 700 million worth of shares in the Lockwood Group. After you help my brother win the lawsuit, I’ll return the shares to you. Then, we can go bur separate ways, free from any debts. Besides, you can fulfill Lilith’s dream, right? I believe her greatest wish now is to be your wife!”
After finishing, she calmly gazed at him, eyes devoid of either love or

Mason’s eyelids twitched.
After a while, he forced a smile. “And what about you, Zoe? What’s your dream?”

Zoe didn’t answer.
She turned and opened the door to the hospital room, gently closing it.
Outside the door, Lilith sat in a wheelchair, her face pale, filled with
worry.
Zoe observed her quietly. She didn’t put on the airs of a jited wife to insult her, nor did she ask the staff to kick her out. In Zoe’s heart, she was no longer Mrs. Lockwood.
In the complex emotions between these three people, those not in love were the outsiders.
It was a cruel yet harsh reality.
She left quietly, the sound of her high heels echoing through the long corridor of the hospital late at night, crisp and lonely.
She thought about Mason’s question, asking about her dream.
Zoe once had dreams.
Her biggest dream was to be Mason’s wife. However, reality
shattered that dream. Now, all she wanted was to be herself.
After Zoe left, Lilith cautiously pushed open the door to the hospital
room.
She had heard that Mason was injured, and Zoe had caused it.
