Chapter 177

Mason hung up the phone. Leaning on his couch, he watched as the snow fell outside the window, his mind imagining Zoe sitting on hers.

Of course, he could just drive over to her place and conquer both her body and her heart. If everything went well, he’d have her for himself

tonight.

She’d wrap her arms around his neck and take it while he thrust into

her. All because she loved him.

However, he didn’t put his thoughts into action. There was no

need

for him to do it because he had already gotten her for himself. Zoe had fallen back in love with him again, both body and mind.

It was a serene night with the snow falling gently outside.

A servant knocked on the door.

“Mr. Eric is here, Mr. Mason! He said he wishes to see you.”

Eric… It was probably Lilith’s father. He had no intention of meeting

the man.

Rubbing his forehead, he said lightly, “Send him away! Tell him I’m sleeping!”

The servant hesitated. “Mr. Eric is kneeling at our entrance. It’s terribly cold tonight. We might make the headlines tomorrow if he freezes to death at our doorstep.”

And so, Mason met Lilith’s father at one o’clock in the morning.

Eric was a chauffeur who had worked diligently for his whole life. His daughter elevated their life quality by the time he was a middle-aged

man.

This was the first time he came to the manor and he was dumbfounded by the extravagant architecture on his way here. His legs, which were stained with snow, were shivering uncontrollably.

The servant served him a cup of hot tea. The sweet scent of the teal filled the room. Lowering his head, he drank it. His fingers, which were rough from his work, were also trembling when he held the

teacup.

Mason sat on the couch. He sounded worn out when he spoke.

“Lilith’s condition is stabilized. We can send her overseas to

recuperate there. Both you and your wife should go along with her. I’ll leave you guys enough money to live comfortably for the rest of your life.”

Eric spilled half of his hot tea at that. Tears flowed down his dark

cheeks.

He proceeded to apologize to Mason, “She’s living on borrowed time! I know Lilith acted childishly and that she had brought a lot of trouble for you and Ms. Zoe. However, you guys loved each other once and you also thought of marrying her once. So, I beg you. Let her die and move on to a better place!”

The old man fell on his knees.

Sobbing, he said, “I’ve talked it over with Carly. We’ll cremate Lilith. and take her ashes to our old place the moment she’s dead. Please believe me when I promise you that I’ll slap her into next week if she causes the slightest issue for you again.”

After that, Eric laid down two items on the coffee table with trembling

hands.

Then, he knelt for a long time before Mason. He was a weak man who dared not step out of line. So, he left without having the guts to wait

for an answer from Mason. It was showing in the dark night when he walked laboriously into the distance

The sweet scent of tea began to fade in the room.

Mason took the two items with his lean fingers. One of them was a picture of Lilith. There was virtually no flesh on her cheeks and she had grown sickly thin. He could see the outline of her skeleton. It didn’t take a genius to figure out that she’d die very soon.

The other item was vinyl. Putting it into the vintage record player, he realized it was ‘Méditation’ from Massenet. To his surprise, it sounded somewhat familiar. He felt that it sounded close to the melody Lilith played for him when he was unconscious.

The violin chords exuded a sense of grief that could just break any listener’s heart. It wasn’t every day that something stirred in Mason’s heart. Sitting quietly, he listened to the melody.

His mind traveled back to the moment in time when he fully intended to marry Lilith. He made the decision because something in his memory stirred his heart back then. It was probably because of this very melody!

Mason spent a long time listening to this melody.

Taking ous phone, he gave Ava a call and said lightly, “Transfer Lilith to t esidential suite and ask her family to stay in the

hospita

est as possible. Don’t let them disturb Zoe at all costs.”
