Chapter 320
Mason took off his coat and put it on Zoe when they were on their way home.
He could touch every single bone in her ribs when he was putting it on for her. She was so weak that she didn’t fight back. All she did was lean back on the passenger
seat.
The black coat had covered half her face, but he could see enough to tell that her cheeks were sunken in a sickly manner. The sight was enough to send a chill down
his spine.
Throughout the entire journey, she kept quiet and stared out the car window. She watched as the crescent moon set and the sun rose above the horizon. She said ever
so softly, “Happy New Year, Mason!”
He wasn’t delighted by her wishes. He knew this was farewell. This was the last New Year they’d spend together. He was reluctant to let her go and set her free. He
wanted her by his side again.
The car stopped at the intersection. Silence hung in the car. All he could hear was
Zoe’s frail breathing. He said in a husky voice, “I’m sorry, Zoe.”
He tried to hold her hand, but she whipped her hand away.
She wouldn’t let him touch her.
It was the first day of the New Year. Mason turned thirty years old on this very day.
It also marked the day when their marriage finally came to an end. There was no
need to say the reasons out loud because, deep down, both of them knew.
How were they supposed to keep it going?
No matter what he did, there was no salvaging this relationship.
It was six in the morning by the time he brought her back to his manor. The black

Mason got out of the car as Lisa and Gabriela, too, stepped out of the black
limousine. It was plain to see that his mother was in high spirits. Her smile widened when she saw him. “Gabriela and I were concerned that you’d feel lonely. So, we’re here to keep you company during the New Year.”
it was obvious what she was trying to achieve here.
Gabriela took a toy out of her purse and smiled affectionately. “I missed Yanni so much. I just had to give her this toy right away! I’m sure she’ll be very happy to see
me later.
She was so tender and forthright, but he merely regarded her with cold, unfeeling
eyes
The next thing she knew, he smacked the toy away from her hand and turned to his mother. His voice was as cold as ice when he spoke to her.
“Why did you put Zoe through hell? I know you don’t like her, but were you actually
trying to kill her?”
Lisa was stunned at what he said.
She couldn’t believe Mason found out about it so soon!
Then, he turned away from her and opened the car door. Bending over, he carried Zoe out of his car. She was wearing his coat, looking as light as a feather in his arms.
He didn’t look at Lisa or Gabriela. Instead, he gave an order to the bodyguard in his manor. “Send my mother to the rehabilitation center! Make sure she gets the same treatment she gave to Zoe. Keep her there for two weeks.”
Lisa was rooted to the spot.
Then, she came back to her senses. She looked at Mason as he turned and left and
barked incredulously, “You’re out of your mind, Mason! I’m your mother!”
Turning around, he glanced at her. “You might not be my mother, for all I know!”
She took a step back and murmured, “Listen to yourself! You’re out of your mind!”
His voice was cold when he said, “You knew about the truth back then. You knew

“You kept it a secret because you didn’t want to see me be with someone I love!

Mason went through with it. Lisa was taken away by the bodyguards. She was cursing Westley when she was shoved into the car.
