Chapter 521

Mason nodded in response.

After that, the homicidal case was subtly suppressed by Lockwood Corporation. It was also the reason why he asked Westley to move

into his manor.

At first, his father wouldn’t do it because he was afraid he might inconvenience his son, but Mason said, “You’ll really inconvenience me if something bad happens to you!”

That really gave Westley something to think about.

Luke chimed in, “Mr. Mason’s worried about you, Mr. Westley! Dr. Jürgen used to be one of the best doctors. To see him murdered, and in such scandalous circumstances, too! Goodness, gracious. It’s too harrowing to even think about.”

Westley couldn’t help but shiver.

It was three in the morning by the time they returned to the manor. The rain had stopped pouring.

Arrangements were made for Westley to stay in the guest room on the ground floor.

Even Luke stayed the night. He said, “This is the first time I’ve seen a homicide. To be frank, my legs turned to jelly st the sight.”

Westley thought back to the gruesome scene. He could still sense the fear lingering in his heart. He couldn’t shake the feeling that Dr. Jürgen’s death had something to do with him!

Mason, on the other hand, didn’t say much. He climbed the stairs and went straight into the master bedroom. The moment he opened the door, he caught Zoe’s sweet scent. It instantly disarmed his

animosity and laid his distress to rest.

Zoe wasn’t sleeping. She rose and leaned on the headboard when she heard the sound of the door opening. Then, she stared right at him.

She turned off the lights in the bedroom. The only thing illuminating the bedroom was the feeble rays of light from the private lounge, but it was enough for her to see his expression, which was full of inexplicable gloominess.

She had mistakenly thought that it was about Dewetta.

Just as she was about to ask him about it, he took off his coat and sat by the bed. Holding her delicate cheeks, he leaned in and kissed her passionately.

It was so intense that she was having trouble breathing.

She thought he wanted to have sex with her. So, she pushed against his shoulder and murmured, “I’m having my period, Mason!”

At the next moment, he stopped and pressed against her forehead with his while he fixed his gaze on her. “Does that mean you’ll make love with me if you’re not having your period?! I can tell it felt very good for you the last time we did it! Do you feel the same lust when you’re around me, the way I do for you? Are you eager to have sex with me?”

She could never say it out loud.

Instead of responding to him, she brushed his dashing face gently and found that it was hot to the touch. However, she barely saw lust in his eyes. That was when she knew that something really bad happened.

He leaned in for another kiss, but she didn’t fight back. Her long black hair fell on the white pillow and she let him have his way with her. She was certain that he wouldn’t go all the way through.

In fact, she felt strongly that he was merely working out his frustration.

After a long time, he embraced her and mumbled, “Someone tampered with Westley’s pills! Dr. Jürgen from the neurology department did it, but he was found dead in his consultation room.”

She shivered in response. Lowering her head, she stared at him.

Leaning in slowly, he kissed her and told her everything that happened that night.

She was holding his neck when she asked, “What are you going to

do?”

“I’ll have to wait for the investigation to conclude.”

A deep sense of irritation rose in his chest. He wished desperately that the mastermind wasn’t who he thought it was. The truth would be far too cruel. His mind was churning with all of these disturbing thoughts, but he had no evidence to prove anything.

Then, he asked her to go ahead and sleep first while he hopped into the shower.

Now that something this harrowing happened, Zoe’s blind date no longer seemed like a big deal.

Lying down, she listened to the servants going about their business downstairs. It was difficult for her to sleep.

Mason didn’t go to sleep after his shower. Instead, he went to the study and had a cigarette.

Zoe tiptoed to the door, but he saw her nonetheless. Turning around, he stared at her quietly, snuffed out his cigarette, and asked tenderly,” Having trouble sleeping?”
