Chapter 23

Lola’s POV

I opened my eyes and saw a garden filled with roses and other beautiful flowers. I felt like I was floating through the field as I could not feel the ground beneath me.

I looked down and saw that I was now wearing a white gown, the bathrobe long gone. My skin looked like glass, flawless and smooth. I raised my gown to check the scars on my thighs and they were no longer there.

I felt like I could live in that garden forever, away from all heartbreaks, away from all pains, no scars nor injury on my body. I did not want to leave the garden.

I closed my eyes and continued to enjoy the peace of the garden when I heard a very beautiful voice call out to me.

“Lola, child. Welcome. You grew so well, thank you for holding out and persevering“, she said the same things as Serena. I looked around, trying to find the voice but I couldn’t.

“Serena, is that you? Why are you hiding from me? Why are we here in this garden?“, I fired out the question rapidly.

The voice laughed softly and I could listen to it all day, it was so melodious. “I am Selene, child. I brought you to this garden through my dear friend, Serena“, she said and my eyes widened in shock.

No, it couldn’t be. It can’t be what I’m thinking.

Chapter 23

“You’re Selene? Like the Moon goddess that werewolves worship, Selene?” I asked in awe and she laughed again. “Yes, I am that Selene, Lola“, she answered softly.

As I took in the fact that I was in fact, in front of the Moon goddess, my awe turned into anger and I asked her the question that had always been on the forefront of my mind.

“Why? Why did you make my parents leave so suddenly? Why did you watch me suffer for 10 years in my pack? Why did I get paired with men that hate my guts and person? How dare you treat me like that? Why, just why did you make me go through all of that?” I shouted into the garden, tears streaming down my cheeks and heard her sighed sadly.

“I’m sorry, Lola. I did not abandon you, I promise. Everything that happened was to keep you safe and shape you to reach your full potential and accept your calling“, she said and I became more confused.

Full potential? Calling? What the heck was she talking about? I was about to ask her what she meant when she spoke up again.

“I know you have a lot of questions but now is not the time for that. You’ll discover more as time goes on. Go now child, Lyla is waiting for you“, she said and I shook my head.

“Lyla can wait. I want to know what……“, I was in the middle of my sentence when I felt like I was being dropped from a very high point.

I felt my heart lurch and I kept screaming. I was about to hit the ground when I woke up with a gasp on the massage table. I sat up and saw Serena smiling at me.

“What was that about? Was that really Selene? What did she mean by ‘full potential‘ and ‘calling‘?” I asked Serena and she just shook her head at me.

“You’ll find out as time goes on, Lola. Don’t rush to find information, it’s almost here. Don’t doubt whatever decision you decide to make from here on“, she said and I wanted to

scream.

Why can’t nobody tell me what the fuck is going on? I waited for 10 years and now I have to wait more?

I was about to say something to her when Lyla came into the room. She looked so relaxed and refreshed, the total opposite of how I was feeling inside of me. Serena gave me a look that said to keep shut and I decided to let it go.

“I fell asleep, would you believe that? I guess you would believe, you look like you just woke up too“, she came to sit beside me on the massage table.

She suddenly looked at me and gasped before using her hands to cover her mouth. “Oh my goddess, Lola. Your hair looks so white, it’s a totally different shade from the silver I was used to. It looks so good and pretty..

She turned towards Serena, “You never made me look this gorgeous with a simple massage, Rena“, she accused her and Serena laughed at her. “You never asked, sugar“.

Lyla said it was time to go, we already spent more time than we ought to. I quietly went to change my clothes back. The dream I had and what Serena said were at the forefront of my thoughts.

my former clothes, “You look like you have a lot on your mind“. I nodded my head in negative to assure her that I was okay.

“This won’t do. If massage won’t take your mind off things, I know what will. Off to our next stop“, she clapped her hand excitedly and I tried to make excited too, since she was doing this for me.

“We’ll be off, Serena. I’ll see you another time. Thank you for your time“, Lyla held my hands and dragged me out of the shop without waiting for Serena’s response. I managed to catch her eyes before we left the shop and she smiled sadly while waving at me.

We came to a stop in front of a store that sells clothes. I could not remember the exact name of the store but it started with a G. Their clothes were very expensive but Lyla said that was exactly why we went in there.

We shopped for clothes for almost 2 hours. Chelsea made us enter almost every store that sold clothings and accessories in the mall. We also shopped for girly products and makeup.

Before we went to eat, we stopped by a store called Victoria’s Secret. They had a lot of sexy underwear and Chelsea made me buy them even when I told her I wouldn’t be needing them.

My hands were starting to ache from how much load we had. We stopped by a food court and Chelsea ordered a burger and fries for me. I’ve never had it before, it felt so good eating something that wasn’t prepared in the kitchen. I’m not saying they’re not good but it was a nice change.

I felt eyes on me and looked towards where the feeling came

from but saw nothing. I’ve been feeling that way since we left Serena’s place. Jasmine also became restless in my head.

“Do you feel it too, Lola. It feels like someone is following us“, I heard through our mindlink. “I don’t see anybody though, nothing looks out of place here. Maybe it’s all in our head from what we dreamt and what Serena told us“, I replied back and she went quiet again.

“Are you ready to drop our stuff in the car? We have one more place to go but we can’t go with all of these things, ” Lola told me when we were done eating. I nodded my head and we made our way over to the car. We dropped stuff before heading back into the mall.

This time around we made our way to a salon. Lola seemed to know the people here too and I waited while they exchanged pleasantries.

“I thought you might want to change your appearance or do something with your hair, that’s why we’re here. You don’t have to if you don’t want to, we can just get mani and pedi and go“, Lyla told me softly.

I felt my hair that was almost reaching my lower back and decided that there’s no harm in trying out something new.

“I’d like to cut it, I want a completely new look“, I said confidently. Lyla also took a seat beside me and demanded that her hair be cut too. I appreciated her support and kind heart.

I loved what I saw when I looked in the mirror afterwards. My hair was barely reaching my shoulder. The white stood out. against my skin clearly and I could not stop touching it.

Lyla looked breath–taking with her new look too. It was almost the same length as mine but she got bangs too.

Our manicure and pedicure was next and it felt good to have someone dote on me for a change. It came out well and we left the mall after we paid.

I won’t say the whole experience today made me forget all that I was going through but I at least have happy memories and I had a fun day.

The ride back home was peaceful and I slept a little before we reached the pack.

Unknown’s POV

“What did you find“, I spoke into the receiver immediately I picked up.

“The girl Lilith gave us information that fits the description you told us sir, but I doubt she’s the one. She doesn’t seem to even have a wolf. I don’t think she’s the right person, sir“, the voice on the other end of the receiver spoke and I growled at him.

“That’s why she’s different, idiot. Do not lose her, I need your to find out what pack she stays in. Do not come back without tangible information“, I spoke into the receiver and hung up.

Very soon, darling, very soon you’ll be mine and mine alone.
