Adrian’s POV

As I looked at her retreating figure, I knew I messed up my chance this time. Nathan was trying to comfort me but I knew he was just going it out of the relationship we had. I did not know what came over me, I just saw red immediately I saw her hugging him.

I could have blamed Daxon for what happened but it was all me and Daxon is very mad at me right now.

“We could have had a chance with her but you fucked it up again, human!” He bellowed in my head and I bowed my head in shame.

It all started in the morning when I heard her running like something was amiss only for me to realize that she was doi g so because she thought she had missed her practice. I was at the top of the staircase listening to everything that was said between Mom and her.

I did not like the fact that she was hanging out with the guys. from yesterday. One of them was the one who saw her home yesterday and I felt my blood boiled at the thought of her hanging out around him today again.

I saw my opportunity to see her when Mom talked about bringing her new phone to her later in her room. I waited till I smelt mom before opening the door to my room.

“Mom“, I called out to her and she stopped in her tracks.

before turning around to face me. “Yes?” She asked with an attitude and I wondered if it was a good idea to ask her for the favour.

“Can I take it to her?” I asked, pointing to the box in her hands. and she raised her eyebrows at me. “What do you know that I’m carrying and why do you want to take it to her?” She asked with her free hand on her hips.

“I know it’s a phone, I over heard you talking about it to her“, she cut me off mid–sentence, “you mean you were eavesdropping“, she said with a pointed glare, “and I’d really like to talk to her to at least sort things out between us“, | finished and Mom’s eyes softened a little.

“Oh, Adrian. I thought you were not going to come back to your senses. You’d better make things right with her and treat her like the queen that she is or you’ll have me to answer to“, she said as she pushed the box into my chest.

“Also tell her that she might get a call from Lyla. I already texted her new number to her“, she said before walking off.

I tried to reign in my nerves before I walked towards her door. I admit that I’ve never been this nervous since……..well since never. Daxon was excited in my head too and he was hopping about happily.

I took a deep breath as I heard her footsteps move towards the door. She opened her door without asking who was there, thinking it was Mom. I had closed my eyes out of nerves

before she opened the door. I was so dumbfounded when I saw her in a bathrobe.

She looked equally shocked and her hands instinctively went to her bathrobe to pull it more securely around her body. She looked so innocent in her bathrobe but the thoughts that were running through my mind were not innocent at all.

Daxon wasn’t helping matters by making a very vivid. description of what might be underneath her bathrobe. I blocked him out and tried to concentrate on not embarrassing myself.

Clearing my throat and my head, I pushed the box towards her. “Mom said I should give this to you“, I said, rubbing my neck nervously after she took it from me.

“Oh, thank you“, she replied in a small voice, her voice adding to the fire that was already burning in my veins. “She said Lyla might call you soon. She already texted her with your number“, I said and she nodded her head.

I wanted to say more to her but I didn’t know what to say so I turned and left, cursing myself for being such a coward.

I contemplated going back to meet her but decided against it, I did not want to disgrace myself again. I was still deciding

when I heard smaller footsteps than mom’s pad through the hallways.

I listened intently and realized it was Lyla. It took a while. before she finally left again, but without Lola which meant she was still in her room. I was about to go and see her when her doors opened and she came out, smelling heavenly as always.

The fact that she was going out with the same set of people I saw her with yesterday made my blood boil. The thought of her smiling at any man or being friendly with them made me see red.

I went downstairs in time to see Lyla stand up and move towards her. Lyla’s eyes and mine met and her smile got replaced with a frown almost immediately.

Knowing that it was going to get on my nerves, she talked about a Greg wanting to see her before dragging her out of the house. I saw red and wanted to go after them but refrained from doing so.

I turned towards my room and mindlinked Nathan. “Hey, man. So you know where Lyla is headed?” I asked immediately I sensed his presence in my head.

“An ice cream parlor. Why do you ask?” He asked. “Because we’re going to that same ice cream parlor. Be ready in 10. minutes, bro“, I said before closing the mindlink.

I should have stayed at home, I thought as the pack ambulance wheeled away the Greg guy. The look in her eyes was the one thing that hurt and haunted me.

She looked terrified of me.
