Chapter 248 Came Back

“Too late?” Magnus asked lazily, “Then let’s not go.”

Not going anymore?!

Eileen froze, momentarily thinking she had misheard.

“Mr. Fleming… right next to us…” Eileen couldn’t accept it, she never imagined that Magnus would back out at such a time.

She had made so much effort, how could she give up halfway?

“Mr. Fleming, weren’t you curious about Claudia’s identity? My friend has already found out, saying she wasn’t a formal employee, but was…”

“I don’t care about her status.” Magnus interrupted her indifferently, his tone full of implications. “Also, she is the mother of my child, I will never help you against her, no matter what.”

Eileen shuddered, the hopeful light in her eyes slowly fading away.

The mother of the child…

How could she forget that Claudia was carrying Edmond’s child? With a child involved, Edmond and Claudia would always be tied together.

Her face flushed, she gritted her teeth and said, “Then I’m leaving first.”

Tonight was pivotal for her future, she was determined to reclaim everything that belonged to her.

The alley was very quiet, the moon had risen high into the sky, a wind blew by, and Claudia tightened her thick windproof down jacket around her.

At the end of the alley was a bustling bar, with a security guard standing at the entrance, people coming and going, creating a noisy and chaotic scene.

Claudia slightly flashed her admission ticket in her hand, and the security guard easily let her in.

Past the bar, there was a large quadrangle, an antique building, which was overshadowed by high–rises on this bustling street, and thus was not conspicuous.

Claudia pulled out a mask from her pocket and put it on, slowly walking in.

The mask was pure gold, inlaid with crushed diamonds, and an engraving of the word ‘Enigma‘ at the corner of the eye was very conspicuous.

In the largest hall of the quadrangle, people wearing various masks were seated.

The people inside the house were chattering about whether or not the boss would come to this meeting.

“The boss hadn’t participated for three years, would he really come this time?”

“I received a message that they would really come this time. If you don’t believe it, just wait. If they don’t come, I’ll transfer ten thousand to your PayPal.”

“Pah, you think I would reveal my identity for just ten thousand bucks?”

In the middle of the room, there was a boss chair, and next to the table sat several men dressed differently.

Pedro, wearing a silver mask, occasionally glanced towards the door.

“Pedro, is the boss almost here?” Warren sat to one side, both nervous and excited.

“Don’t worry, she will definitely come tonight.” Pedro’s voice was full of certainty.

She hadn’t come for three years, and her position had already been threatened.

He glanced indifferently at Calvin Stephens beside him, a hint of coldness in his brown eyes.

“Pedro, why are you always watching me?” Calvin, wearing sungla**es and a thin shirt, his muscles bulging and strong, said, “When the boss left, he specifically instructed that I should handle everything here. I know you’ve been dissatisfied with my actions over the years, but I’m doing it for the organization!”

He took a puff of his cigarette, then exhaled a cloud of murky smoke.

Pedro sneered, his fingers cracking loudly as he clenched them tightly.

Since Claudia married Edmond, she rarely appeared, which led to some monkeys claiming to be the king. Calvin was one of them, and Eileen was brought up by him.

Hearing Calvin’s words, someone echoed, “In the three years that the boss was not here, Calvin has done a lot for the organization. Pedro, it’s normal that you can’t see Calvin’s hard work because you are thriving in the entertainment industry.”

A single sentence revealed Pedro’s identity.

Pedro’s cold gaze swept towards the newcomer, ready to retort, but he saw someone quickly approaching from the doorway.

She was wrapped in a white thermal suit, her long hair draped down, a mask covering half of her face, revealing a sharp chin.

Upon seeing this mask, the scene suddenly fell silent.

This was the unique mask of the boss, which couldn’t even be replicated.

“Boss! You’re finally back?!” Warren ran over joyfully, breaking the silence.

Watching Warren rush over like a child, Claudia laughed and patted. his shoulder, “I’m back.”

Apologies to everyone, I disappeared for three years in order to complete a daunting task.”

She didn’t say what the mission was, but the complaints about her in the field immediately dropped to the lowest.

The boss hadn’t shown up for so many years. Although no one spoke about it, everyone was unsure deep down.

Seeing the boss return at that moment, a weight was lifted from everyone’s heart.

“Just come back.” Pedro stood up, his voice trembling slightly.

Seeing Claudia return, he was excited deep down.

“Let’s all report on this year’s work situation,” Claudia said, sitting

down in the chair and preparing to take notes with the documents and pen beside her.

“Boss, I’m number 38, there’s something I need you to handle.”

Suddenly, an excited voice cut in.

Claudia looked up and saw a man standing up. To her surprise, he took off his mask.

The man was wearing a black coat, looking to be about twenty to thirty years old, a young lad.

Taking off the mask meant revealing one’s identity.

Claudia straightened her expression, her tone serious: “Go ahead.”

The matter that could expose his identity must have been very important.

“Boss, I want to report Pedro,” he glared at Pedro menacingly.

The whole room was in an uproar.

Pedro? That star who was the talk of the town?

Was he actually Pedro?

Seeing Pedro’s identity exposed, Claudia’s heart sank.

She looked at the young man in front of her, squinting her eyes, a bad premonition lurking in her heart.

“I reported him for colluding with Edmond’s ex–wife, framing our team members for his own gain,” the young man finished, leaving the room in silence.

The framed team member? Could it be Eileen?

Recently, only Eileen was fired, and the matter caused quite a stir

Indeed, it was Pedro who did the firing, but everyone a**umed it was the boss’s intention.

“Number 38” said this, could there be more to this matter than meets the eye?

Claudia bit her lower lip, her expression almost breaking. She took a deep breath and asked coldly, “Are you sure it’s a setup?”

Which of the things that Eileen did wasn’t like dancing on a high- voltage wire, and why would, there be a need to frame her?

Did she really think that she wouldn’t know anything just because she hadn’t returned for all these years?

“It was a setup!”

Eileen’s voice had risen high.

At the door, Eileen walked in with tears in her eyes, holding her head high and chest out.

“Boss, Pedro liked Claudia, he even created a Twitter account and openly said he would fire me. I want to ask him personally now, what exactly did I do wrong? Why did Pedro have the right to fire me?”
