Her legs became like this, and Seraphina was “indispensable“. In front of so many people, if Seraphina cared about her reputation, she
couldn’t possibly ignore her.
Elva looked around and saw someone in the crowd pulling out a camera, the corners of her lips slightly lifted.
Among these crowds were also mixed with journalists. Even if Seraphina didn’t care about her own reputation, she was now living with the Johnson family and had to consider their reputation.
Elva’s abacus clattered loudly, but Claudia remained completely unmoved.

In Elva’s words, every word was filled with accusations, her tears and snot mingling together, she cried so pitifully.
Hearing her curse her own child, Claudia lifted her watery eyes, her radiance piercing the clouds like a sharp sword.
“Retribution? Elva, aren’t you facing retribution right now?” She looked around, smiling at the onlookers, “If you’re going to gossip, get the whole story. Her name is Elva, she was adopted by my biological parents. She used a self–harming scheme to frame me, even colluding with outsiders to deceive my family out of their money. Everyone, judge for yourselves, should I be merciful to such a person and play the saint, supporting her for the rest of her life?!”
“Everyone here is discerning, it was her who just fell on her own, it had nothing to do with me.”
Even if there was a relationship, she wouldn’t admit it.
After Claudia finished speaking, she left without looking back.
Others condemned, she was not afraid.
Moral kidnapping, it didn’t work on her.
As long as she was thick–skinned, no one could provoke her.
Her steps were quick, and by the time she left, Elva hadn’t even reacted.
Claudia’s last words had an effect.
Seeing Elva lying motionless on the ground, the faces of the people in the shop turned grim.
“Miss, could you please leave? You are disturbing our work!”
Elva’s face instantly turned completely red.
“Sorry, could you help me up?”

Claudia had already left. Elva gave the reporters a knowing look and left with a calm expression.
She just couldn’t believe that Seraphina really didn’t care about saving
face.
The thought of her soon–to–be engagement with Horace caused Elva’s heart to ache in waves.
Seraphina’s arrival changed everything.
Just then, the phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, Elva impatiently pressed the power off button.
Without guessing, it was known that it was her biological parents who opened it, asking her for money to treat her brother’s illness.
But she was barely able to fend for herself now, how could she possibly spare money to help others?
Seeing her own leg in a pitiful state, so bad that even a prosthetic couldn’t be fitted, Elva gritted her teeth and called Derrick.
Derrick was having tea with the Johnson family and Waldron, Ervin.
“Last time Claudia and Horace went to the factory, it was said they were going to save someone. Did you find out anything? Who exactly did she want to save?” Waldron was still bothered by what happened last time.
Although Claudia didn’t say anything, she was very weak after being brought back by Horace, which made everyone very worried.
Who could have made Claudia personally go to the rescue, Waldron was both bewildered and jealous.
“So curious, why not just ask?” Ervin raised his eyebrows and laughed.
“The way I interacted with her was to fully respect her. If she didn’t speak, I didn’t ask.” Though he said this, there was an answer stirring in the depths of Waldron’s heart.
Last time, Claudia had asked him if he believed Edmond was still alive. Although he thought it was impossible, given Claudia’s personality, she didn’t seem like someone who would ask pointless questions.
That Edmond, he couldn’t possibly still be alive, could he?
Thinking of this, Waldron took a sharp intake of breath.
“Do you think there’s a chance Edmond might not be dead?” Waldron suddenly asked.
The atmosphere was tense, you could hear a pin drop.
Derrick glanced at him indifferently. “Any evidence?”
“No evidence, but Claudia’s recent behavior… was not quite normal.”
Jumping into a new relationship so quickly didn’t seem like Claudia’s character.
Although he wished his sister could forget Edmond sooner, it was
clear she hadn’t. The fact that she was pretending to be happy marrying another man while clearly having someone else in her heart, made him
worry even more.
“Why don’t you go ask her? If she really doesn’t like Horace, she doesn’t have to marry him. Even if she doesn’t get married, we have more than enough to take care of her for the rest of her life.”
There was full confidence in Ervin’s tone.
With the wealth of the Friedan family, it was not just enough for one lifetime, but for ten lifetimes.
Upon hearing Ervin’s words, a smile uncontrollably crept up the corners of Waldron’s mouth. Yes, their only sister, they always had to pamper her well.
Just then, Derrick’s phone rang. Derrick picked up his cell phone and placed it on the coffee table, “It’s Elva.”
The atmosphere suddenly fell silent.
They knew about the quarrel between Elva and Thomas, including the
matter of Elva’s biological parents still being alive, they were fully
aware of it.
It was inevitable that Thomas would be angry, as he treated Elva like his own daughter. Unfortunately, his affection was misplaced. The higher the expectations, the deeper the disappointment.
“Pa**.” Waldron looked coldly at Derrick.
He wanted to see if Derrick, the fool, was still as biased towards Elva as before.
Derrick knew Waldron’s thoughts, gave a bitter smile, and pressed the answer key.
“Derrick!” Elva cried out, “My legs are almost useless, the doctor said if I can’t come up with the money, I’ll have to rely on the state’s welfare to survive. Derrick, please help me, I don’t want to live like this.” Elva’s voice was full of accusation and grievance.
Derrick was her last straw, she was truly at her wit’s end.
Thomas was inherently ruthless, she no longer held any hope for him, but Derrick was different, he had feelings for her and wouldn’t just stand by and watch her suffer.
Elva was confident that as long as she acted pitiful, Derrick would definitely help her.
After hearing her words, Derrick didn’t speak.
The silent atmosphere surged in the undercurrent of the phone call.
Elva’s heart pounded wildly.
“Derrick, Derrick, please help me, your sister. I’m really pitiful right now. I’ve lost my prosthetic limb and have been kicked out of the hospital. Dad won’t even talk to me. You’re all I have left, Derrick. Please, I beg you to help me, lend me some money. Once I start earning money… I’ll pay you back, okay?”
Borrowing money, repaying money, that was her last dignity.
But even if her dignity was swept away, she still demanded this last sum of money.
If Derrick was willing to help her, it would only be for the last time, so for this final opportunity, she chose to ask for money.
Hearing her distressed sobs, Derrick also felt uncomfortable. Under Waldron’s cold gaze, he asked in a hoarse voice, “How much do you want?”
After all, having been his sister for so many years, he couldn’t be that cruel.
