Chapter 114
After hearing her words, Joseph found some truth in them. Going out to engage in
other activities was indeed a better choice, but she still stayed here, constantly trying to
find a way to reach him.
“Um, what’s your name?” He asked softly.
She whispered, “Sherry Wilson.”
Joseph was somewhat surprised. “Your last name is also Wilson?”
Sherry smiled bitterly and nodded. “Yes, it’s quite a coincidence.”
“Aren’t you afraid? There are many ghosts here. I saw them all the way here.”
“What’s the point of being afraid? We choose our own path, and even if we have to face
difficulties, we still have to move forward. Fear is a useless emotion. It’s better to turn
fear into strength, which is more practical.“/
Her tone was gentle, but there was a strength in her words that gradually stabilized

Joseph’s emotions.
Sherry noticed this and whispered, “Would you like to come with me?”
Joseph pouted and stubbornly said, “I’m a man; I don’t need someone to accompany
- me.
“Oh.” Sherry nodded. “Then you can continue to stay here.”

Joseph felt a bit embarrassed by her response: “Sherry, why haven’t my mom and dad
come to find me? They love me the most, so shouldn’t they be worried about me?”
How should she answer?
His mother was conspiring with his sister, wanting to take advantage of the situation.
And his father was used to commanding others instead of doing things himself.
“They are still busy.”
“What are they busy with? Is there anything more important than me? I’m their only son;
shouldn’t I be the most important thing to them?”
Sherry nodded. “That’s true, but you’re already eleven years old. Do you expect your
parents to take care of you meticulously when they are in their nineties and you’re
sixty?”
Joseph became a little angry. “But I’m only eleven now. I still celebrate Children’s Day.
It’s only natural for them to be good to me.”
“In this world, there is no such thing as ‘should‘ or ‘shouldn’t‘. There are many children.
who have never had their parents by their side to take care of them since birth. They
can only grow up on their own and overcome challenges because they know that no
one will come to save them.”
Joseph listened quietly, not saying a word, and no one knew what he was thinking.
But Sherry knew that he had heard her.
So she continued, “Your father is a capable man. With him around, it doesn’t matter
how–much trouble you cause. You can damage a brand new car, and he will
compensate for you. But have you ever considered the fact that many devoted workers
created this car? If it doesn’t sell, they may not even get paid. Their children won’t be

able to go to amusement parks, and they might not even be able to afford a basketball.
There are many kids your age who are already thinking about how to earn money in the
future, so they don’t have to live in such hardship.”
Joseph bit his lip stubbornly and said, “You’re blaming me for damaging your
company’s car, right? My dad has already compensated.”
“That’s true.” Sherry nodded. “Sometimes, I envy you. You’ve always had a father who
loyes and spoils you.”
Joseph moved a bit from the tombstone and sat closer to her. “You make it sound like
you don’t have parents.”
Sherry quickly responded, “I don’t. My father left my mother before I was born, and my
mother passed away shortly after giving birth to me. I’m already in my twenties, and
this is my first time at an amusement park, my first time seeing go–karts and haunted
houses.”
Joseph was stunned for a moment: He hesitated and then crawled out from behind the
tombstone, sitting next to Sherry. “Is that true?”

“Why would I lie to you?”

Joseph asked in confusion, “So, you never played with toy cars when you were a child?”
Sherry nodded. “I didn’t have money to buy toys. When I was a child, all I could think
about was studying hard and finding a good job so that I wouldn’t starve or suffer.”
“What about your job now? Can you support yourself with your salary?”
“Well, barely. But if your father didn’t buy cars from our company, my life would probably
be much harder. But it’s okay; I’ve gotten used to it. If this job doesn’t work out, I’ll find
another one. As long as I don’t encounter a troublemaker like you, I’m sure I can do
well.”
Joseph sighed. “I didn’t mean to insult you. My mother told me that you’re a bad woman
who stole my sister’s husband, so I treated you poorly.”
Sherry found it amusing. Nora pretended to be gentle on the surface, but behind her
back, she spoke ill of her to her son, making it difficult for her. Unfortunately, he was
just a child, so even if she felt wronged, she could only endure it.

What a clever tactic! She would not be blamed for any part of it.
“Do you like your sister?”
Joseph shook his head. “I have never met her, but Mom says she is my sister. I don’t
really have any feelings toward her.”
Sherry chuckled softly. “Then what do you think of your brother–in–law?”
“He’s not that great.” Joseph snuggled up to her side again. “To be honest with you, I
don’t really like my sister. She dresses like a female ghost; she’s creepy.”
Children didn’t like heavy makeup, but Sophia loved to wear it. Today, she was
particularly glamorous.
“But she is your sister, and you all will be a family in the future.”
Joseph puffed up his cheeks and said defiantly, “Actually, I would prefer it if you were
my sister.”

Sherry was a little surprised and turned her head to look at him.
Joseph felt a bit embarrassed under her gaze and became annoyed. “I wasn’t
complimenting you or anything. I just… never mind. It doesn’t matter. You are indeed
quite good–looking, not ugly at all.
Sherry raised an eyebrow, waiting for him to continue.

“Moreover, you possess a pleasant temperament. Even when I reprimand you and
create difficulties for you, you remain composed and engage in rational discussions
with me. Although there are instances when you can be bothersome, I still believe that
you are better. Additionally, we share the same surname. Perhaps centuries ago, we
were indeed part of the same family.”
