Chapter 133
At this moment, Sherry remained oblivious to the events unfolding outside. Cut off
from the internet and with a non–functional television, she could only pass the time by
cooking in the kitchen.
She hadn’t prepared a proper meal for Mr. Sniper in the past few days, so she decided
to make up for it today.
She was busy until the afternoon, still cooking when a pair of strong arms wrapped
around her waist from behind. This embrace was all too familiar to her. She could smell
a pleasant hint of mint along with the scent of cigarettes.
“You’re smoking?” Sherry turned down the heat and allowed the food to continue
cooking.
“Yes,” Mr. Sniper whispered softly, “I thought you would be angry.”
“Because of your smoking?” Sherry poked his chest and said with mild dissatisfaction,
“It’s better if you don’t smoke. It’s not good for your health. But I still want to ask you, did

you encounter something difficult today?”

Since they started dating, Mr. Sniper rarely smoked, unless he was facing some trouble.
Mr. Sniper led her out of the kitchen and they sat down on the large bed in the
bedroom. He made Sherry sit on his lap. It seemed that Mr. Sniper had something
important to say.
“What’s wrong? Why are you so serious?” Sherry asked.
Mr. Sniper seemed to gather his courage and make a big decision before speaking.
“Sherry, I want to tell you something, something… not so good. Be prepared, but don’t
worry; it’s only temporary. I will resolve it as soon as possible.”
Sherry’s heart sank, connecting it to the fact that he had cut off all her communication.
with the outside world today. She thought of something and said, “Has the woman you
like returned? Is she trying to reconcile with you?”
Mr. Sniper sighed helplessly and playfully flicked her nose, gently saying, “What are you
thinking every day? There’s no reconciliation.”

“Then what is it?” Sherry didn’t quite understand. “I can’t think of anything else that
would make you so on edge.”

“Concerning your reputation,” Mr. Sniper took out his phone, opened a news app, and
showed her the screen. He explained in a gentle and soothing voice, “Here’s what
happened. You appeared at Christopher’s concert last night, and someone captured a
few shots of you. Christopher’s fans started investigating you and discovered that you
are married, suspecting that you have a relationship with Christopher. These young
girls, just like Camila, have unrealistic fantasies about their idols, so they maliciously
insulted and abused someone whom they thought was his wife.”
Before he could finish his sentence, Sherry had already taken his phone; she scrolled
through it curiously.
Occasionally, she would exclaim, “Oh my god, this photo makes me look so good! I was
so busy backstage yesterday, looking like an old lady, but I still look so beautiful on
camera. It must be the person who edited the picture for me.”
Mr. Sniper didn’t know what to say.

Mr. Sniper was a bit speechless. “So many people are insulting you, and you’re not even
angry?”
Sherry bit her lip. “Is that why you made me go offline for a day?”
Judging from her reaction, it seemed like she didn’t care at all.
Sherry sighed and felt a little touched. “These insults don’t mean anything to me
because I have nothing to do with Christopher. Let them insult me if they want. I know
they’re insulting the wrong person, so I won’t get angry.”
Mr. Sniper shook his head with a wry smile. “Well, I guess I worried for nothing. I didn’t
expect that my lover would be unaffected by the gossip.”
“Sigh, I’ve heard so much gossip throughout my life. This is nothing.” Sherry handed
him back the phone, and Mr. Sniper casually caught it and threw it aside without caring.
He pulled her into his arms.

You’ve been hearing gossip since you were young.”

Sherry hugged him and continued to say, “Well, my mother gave birth to me before
getting married, and people in that era looked down upon such behavior. So, many
gossiping neighbors would secretly gossip about it. When I was a child, I would explain
to them that my father was just away and would come back to pick me up. But after
waiting for years and years, I slowly realized that my father probably wouldn’t come
back, so I stopped bothering to explain. People will stubbornly believe what they want
to believe, and no one can change that.”
Mr. Sniper nodded in agreement. “Did they speak harshly?”
“At first, it was really hurtful. I cried many times. But you know about my hot–tempered
uncle. As long as someone dared to say something bad about my mother, he would.
fight for her. Over time, no one dared to say anything anymore. When I was a child, I
thought my uncle’s behavior wasn’t good, but without his protection, Iwould probably
have lived in inferiority all my life.”
“Your two uncles have taught you well.”

“Yes, but unfortunately, they didn’t teach Sophia well.”
“That’s her nature. It’s hard to change one’s nature. Even if a saint taught her, it would
probably be the same.” Mr. Sniper reached out and tucked her messy hair behind her
ear, lightly kissing her cheek. “I’m just proud that my Sherry is much stronger than I
imagined.”
Sherry chuckled softly. “You taught me that. You have to have confidence in yourself
and be willing to defend your rights. Just enduring silently will only make things worse.
It’s better to express your stance from the beginning.”
“Yes,” Mr. Sniper was very satisfied, “you’ve learned well.”
“Am I good enough, Mr. Sniper?”
Mr. Sniper was excited by her teasing, and he playfully bit her lips. “Sherry, you’re very
talented. It seems like I need to give you some extra lessons tonight, one–on–one.”

Mr. Sniper’s eyes sparkled as he whispered softly in her ear, “For example…”
The following words could only be heard by the two of them: Sherry’s face instantly
turned red, and she lightly hit him. “I’m pregnant; what are you thinking?”
Mr. Sniper playfully held her and defended himself against her punches, but his face
showed pure enjoyment. He loved teasing her, and seeing her shy and playful side
made him feel bright and happy.
All the gloom, hardships, difficulties, and hatred of the past faded away in her smile.
