Chapter 199
Sherry pursed her lips and chose not to continue arguing with Sophia.
She had come to realize that engaging in an argument with Sophia would only make
her look as unintelligent as her. It was futile to argue with her, especially since there
a
was a long journey ahead and no need for temporary satisfaction.
In the following days, Sophia and Nora’s social engagements suddenly increased.
She hadn’t noticed it before, but now that she was exposed to this level of lifestyle, she
realized that wealthier people tended to be more snobbish.
She didn’t know the extent of the Martin family’s wealth, and she didn’t want to ask.
However, she could gather some information from the actions of other socialites and
members of high society.
The most obvious sign was the sudden increase in visitors to the house.
Some claimed to be there to visit Mr. Wilson, while others mentioned their shared
overseas educational backgrounds with Sophia and expressed a desire to strengthen
their friendship. There were various reasons, but the ultimate goal was to establish a
good relationship with the Wilson family.
Finally, David received many compliments. He smiled every day and even had a
moment of conscience when he handed Sherry a bank card.
Sherry looked at the bank card he offered and hesitated. “Mr. Wilson, what does this
mean?”
“It’s your allowance. Use it to buy delicious food and beautiful clothes.” David was
drunk; he staggered upstairs to rest.
Sherry held the bank card, pondered for a moment, and ultimately decided to accept it.
She put it away.
Since the Martin family banquet, life in the Wilson family had undergone a complete
transformation, but Sherry’s life remained calm and uneventful.
When Christopher had variety show activities Lily would call in advance, and the next
speciating
day, according to the agreed time and place, Sherry would go directly to the shooting
location to style Christopher. When there were no tasks, Lily would let her rest.

Sherry had Mr. Sniper purchase many self–study materials on garden and architectural
design. When she wasn’t busy, she would quietly read in the attic. Downstairs, it was
still bustling, from early morning until midnight, with a constant stream of visitors.
But none of this concerned her. She continued like this for a week.
One ordinary morning, an unexpected guest arrived at the Wilson family’s house.
Sherry was studying engineering mechanics on her own when she suddenly heard a
commotion downstairs.
It wasn’t the lively commotion filled with laughter and joy, but rather an argument.
The Wilson family had changed a lot since then, so who would dare to come to their
house and argue with the host?
Sherry opened the door and glanced downstairs, immediately sneering.
Speciating
How could she have forgotten her former mother–in–law, Violet?
At that moment, Violet was pointing her finger at Sophia and scolding, “You’re clearly
carrying my great–grandchild in your belly, so why suddenly want to marry into the
Martin family? Sophia, our Ford family has treated you well. Is what you’re doing
something a decent person would do?”
Violet’s words were always harsh, and Sophia naturally didn’t hold back either. She
sarcastically laughed at Violet, as if she wanted to pour out all the grievances she had
suffered under her in the past: “Madam Violet, please don’t speak recklessly. It was your
son who forced me.”
“Forced? Ridiculous! I can’t believe you can say that! Back then, who desperately
pursued our Malcolm and wouldn’t let go, even breaking off ties with your own cousin,
crying and begging to marry into our Ford family? The records from your prenatal
check–ups at the provincial hospital are all there. You can’t deny it, even if you want to!”
When Violet mentioned the records from the prenatal check–ups, Nora quickly pulled
Sophia aside, urging her to temporarily keep quiet, and stepped forward to talk to Violet
in her place.
Seeing Nora, Violet’s expression didn’t improve. “We’re both mothers. How did you
discipline your daughter to make her do such disgraceful things?”
Nora wasn’t as impulsive. She affectionately held Violet’s hand and said, “My dear, the
situation here is a bit complicated. Sit down first and let me slowly explain it to you,
alright?”
Reluctantly, Violet allowed herself to be pulled and sat down on the sofa, her face
looking gloomy. “Fine, I want to hear just how complicated it is. I know how good you
are at talking, but what can you do with it?”
Nora smiled and waved her hand. “Sophia, quickly go to the kitchen and boil some
water. And make a cup of the luxurious tea we just bought for Violet. Remember, use
freshly boiled water. Hurry!”
Sophia bit her lip and obediently went to the kitchen.
She herself understood that her mother had a better way. Every time she tried to handle things, she couldn’t quite get it right. It was always more reliable to leave everything to her mother. As she walked toward the kitchen, she seemed to sense something and
looked up.
She saw Sherry standing by the railing of the attic, holding a book in her hand, and
wearing a pair of pink metal–framed glasses. She calmly watched everything happening
in the living room, like a high and mighty spectator enjoying a comedy below.
She glared fiercely at Sherry.
But Sherry only smiled even more happily.
Violet and Nora, once good friends and in–laws, were finally going to fall apart because
of Nora’s greedy daughter, Sophia.
She was delighted to see it happen.
Perhaps Sherry’s smile was too dazzling, as Sophia muttered something under her
breath and hurriedly went into the kitchen to boil water.
The conversation from the living room could be somewhat heard in the kitchen.
Chapter 199 Spectaring
Violet said, “If Sophia doesn’t want to marry Malcolm, that’s fine. But she must keep the
child in her belly. It’s our Ford family’s bloodline–my first grandchild. I’ve been longing
for it for so many years, and there’s no room for negotiation.”
Nora handed her a cup of tea with a smile, much calmer than Violet. Now that she had
the upper hand, she didn’t need to say things that Violet liked to hear, like she used to.
“Violet, this might be a bit difficult,” Nora said.
Upon hearing this, Violet’s eyebrows furrowed in anger. “Difficult? What do you mean by
that? Please clarify!
Nora delicately took a sip of her tea, placed it back on the table, and pretended to
admire the intricate carving on the teacup. She nonchalantly remarked, “A few days
ago, I took Sophia for a medical examination. The doctor mentioned that her physical condition is too weak, and there might be complications with this pregnancy.”
“What?” Violet’s anger suddenly intensified. “Didn’t the examination indicate that
everything was fine? How can it suddenly become like this?”
