Chapter 43
She had walked for what felt like an eternity before being placed in the passenger seat
of a car by a pair of strong arms.
The vehicle had a high chassis and was most likely an SUV.
Mr. Sniper released his hold on her, his arm pulling away from around her waist, and the
familiar sensation disappeared, leaving Sherry feeling anxious.
“Mr. Sniper?” the narrator said.
“Yeah, I’m here,” he replied, his voice close to her ear. “Is your foot still hurting?”
Sherry reached out and touched it, feeling his powerful muscles, which put her at ease.
“Did you forget to wear your mask when you went out today?”
Mr. Sniper responded with a “Hmm“: “Do you want to see me?”
Even though she knew Mr. Sniper was Maverick, she couldn’t deny that she wanted to
see it for herself.

She wished she could open her eyes and look at him more than ever.
But…
“Will it interfere with your plans?”

Mr. Sniper kissed her closed eyelids gently. “It will, but if you really want to see, then…”
“No need,” Sherry said, closing her eyes, “I won’t look. I’ll wait until the day you’re truly
willing to take off your mask in front of me. I can wait for that day, right?”
Mr. Sniper’s expression was bitter and helpless. “Sherry, I’m sorry for making you wait.”
“It’s not a problem,” she stated with a shake of her head. “You told me I should believe in
myself, I was initially terrified of going on stage dressed like this, but I remembered
what you said, that I’m no worse than anyone else, so I decided to listen to you.”
Mr. Sniper gently lifted her chin with his finger and kissed her lips, saying, “You’re such
a good girl.”
He lowered his body slightly and lifted her from the passenger seat once more.

Sherry gasped in amazement as her body felt weightless. She almost opened her eyes,
but in that single second of recognition, she swiftly closed them again and tightened
her grip on his neck.
She was placed in the car once more, but this time he did not leave.
Mr. Sniper sat in the back seat with her, with Sherry on his lap.
Mr. Sniper bent down and carefully helped her take off her high heels, softly holding her
petite feet in his hands. “It’s not life–threatening, but it’s still swollen, and we need to get
it under control as soon as possible.”
Sherry closed her eyes and leaned against his chest. The world around her darkened,
and her sense of touch and smell became more acute.
She could feel his Adam’s apple moving up and down as he spoke, and she caught a
faint scent of tobacco on him.
Sherry asked, “Did you just smoke?” “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you smoke before.”

“I’m not addicted; I just smoke a cigarette to relieve stress when I’m in a bad mood.”
Sherry nodded. “Smoking is bad for your health; quit now, okay?”
Mr. Sniper crossed his legs and pulled her closer, adding, “Okay, I’ll listen to you.”
She eventually heard him softly hum in her ear, “You can’t smoke when you’re giving
birth, either.”

Mr. Sniper’s hands were skilled, and after massaging her for a while, the pain in her foot
eased.
“You can put me down now; I need to go back and change my clothes; my own clothes
and shoes are still in the backstage dressing room,” Sherry explained.
‘Go home first; I’ll send someone to pick them up later.”
Sniper covered her with his suit and took the wheel to start the car.
Mr. Sniper drove carefully, possibly because he was worried about her injury, and they
arrived at the Hilton Hotel over an hour later.

Mr. Sniper brought her to the door of room 2307 in the elevator but couldn’t enter it
since it required a key card.
Mr. Sniper couldn’t open the door since both of his hands were holding her.
“Is the card in your pocket? Should I open it?” Sherry asked, her eyes still closed.
“Sure, the card is in the left pocket of my pants, you can feel for it,” Mr. Sniper said
mischievously.
Sherry was taken aback, her face flushed.
It’s no surprise he was smiling strangely. He was wearing tight–fitting pants today, so
her hand had to be forced into the pocket, just like she was stroking his thigh.
She gave up. “Why don’t you put me down?” I can lean against the wall.”
“Are you feeling shy again?”
“I’m not exactly shy, but it feels a little embarrassing.”

Mr. Sniper quietly chuckled in her ear. “I believe your safe period is over, right?”
His remarks‘ implication couldn’t be clearer.
“But,” Sherry said softly, “my foot is still injured.”
“Your foot injury won’t affect that; I’ll be careful not to touch it, okay?”
Sherry thought Mr. Sniper was exceptional at everything except this one thing, for
which he had an extraordinarily great enthusiasm.

But she had no prior experience with guys in this regard. They had never had a physical
relationship in their four years of marriage, so she didn’t know if he had expended all of
his energy on Sophia.
Sherry found herself admiring Sophia. She could endure so much physical exertion
every day and still have energy to work and strategize, plotting a scenario that forced
her to fall into it.
Aside from everything else, Sophia’s physical health was excellent.

Sherry was placed gently on the soft bed. She was still dressed in her “work clothes” as
a car model, a short and tight sequined gown. She tugged at the hem, trying to pull it
down.
“Don’t pull it; you’ll tear the dress later.”
Mr. Sniper massaged her back and softly urged, “Sherry, open your eyes.”
Sherry had always been an obedient child and continued to be so.
Mr. Sniper had already put on a white mask and was leaning over her with both hands/
as soon as she opened her eyes.
The two were uncomfortably close, and she could feel their breaths mingling. Sherry
could even see herself in his deep amber eyes.
“Sherry, does Mateo like you?”
Mr. Sniper suddenly asked.

Sherry didn’t say anything. “I don’t think so, we’ve only met three times, including today.”
Mr. Sniper disapprovingly shook his head and added, “A man’s intuition is that when his
woman is desired by another man, it will trigger a strong sense of jealousy.”
“Are you jealous too?”
“I’m almost going insane with jealousy,” Mr. Sniper said bitterly, holding the back of her
head to prevent her from escaping. “I’m a normal man. I want to have a child who will
carry on my bloodline with the woman I love. It’s a male instinct.”
Sherry bit her lower lip. ‘But both
you
and Mateo are…”
Not the real thing….
Sherry was feeling unsettled. Mateo’s feelings towards her could be described as a
slight affection, and they hadn’t progressed into love. However, when she found out
that he was Mr. Sniper’s younger brother, she was consumed by guilt.
“What about.me and Mateo?”

“Nothing,” Sherry explained. “I have already made an effort to keep my distance from
him as much as possible; besides work, there won’t be anything else, I promise you.”
In the next moment, he passionately captured her lips.
“Give me a child; it holds much more value than a promise.”
