Chapter 48
Mr. Sniper’s lips pressed against hers, silencing her.
“Sherry, this is a promise, not a wish.”
She bit her lower lip and replied, “Let’s just consider it a wish.”
He groaned deeply, a mix of joy and helplessness, and said, “Sherry, you’re too easily
deceived.”
“What do you mean exactly?”

“It’s a good thing you met me,” Mr. Sniper continued, “because if that wealthy playboy
was truly rich, he would have had enough money to save your uncle. If you were serious
about him, you’d have to endure a lifetime of separation, as he changes women as
often as he changes clothes.”
“I’m not naive,” Sherry pouted. “I know the type of person he is.”
“Hmm,” Mr. Sniper remarked, surprised. “What would you do if it really was him?”
“Um…” Sherry hesitated for a moment, pondering before responding, “I would still repay
him, but I would work even harder to earn money and pay him back with interest.”
Mr. Sniper mocked her by flicking her nose. “He doesn’t need money and isn’t
concerned about your attention. What he desires is you. Let me ask you, Sherry: Would
you give in if he wanted your body?”
“I’ve never thought about that, Sherry said, shaking her head. “And it’s not a possibility.”
“But, just hypothetically.”
“If he insisted…” Sherry shook her head rapidly, her opposition visible on her face. “I
wouldn’t. I could repay him in any other way, but I refuse to offer myself.”
Mr. Sniper smiled and said, “Good answer, plus ten points.”
Sherry couldn’t help but notice the hint of testing in his tone.
However, this kind of examination made her heart race.
“Because it’s you‘ Sherry explained, adding. Im very lucky and grateful that it’s you.”

The night of May 20th to May 21st sealed with a kiss, was destined to be passionate
and challenging because of her wish
When emotions were running high Sniper issued an ultimatum: “Hurry up and divorce
Malcolm. We’ll get mamed as soon as I finish my work. I don’t want to wait any longer.”
What else could she possibly say?
He was fierce, but she was tender.
Countless words were distilled into the simple word “Okay.”
The following day, May 21st, the weather was sunny with clear skies and a gentle
breeze. Couples could still be seen hugging on the streets, and the pleasant
atmosphere from the day before lingered.

Chapter 48 Because It’s You
Sherry woke up early and called Malcolm on her own initiative.
The call was answered by Sophia, who said, “Caught you, didn’t I? Do you have any
regrets, Sherry? Calling Malcolm so early in the morning and not confessing your
affection for him?”
This sharp tone shattered her good mood.
“Fine, I admit I have feelings for him,” Sherry said coldly. “I simply want to meet him. Are
you upset?”
“Sherry, do you have no shame?!” Sophia exclaimed, lowering her voice.
Sherry continued, ignoring her, “Not only do I want to meet up with him, but I also want
to go somewhere with him. Are you upset?”
“You…”
“What about me? We haven’t divorced yet, so I’m still legally Mrs. Ford. If you enter the
picture, you’ll only be a mistress. If I don’t divorce, you’ll be a mistress that no one will
Chapter 48 Because It’s You
Malcolm would be pleased if he received Sherry’s call right now, thanks to Sherry’s call.
But before she could rejoice for a few moments, Malcolm’s phone rang repeatedly.
It was Sherry calling again.
“As persistent as ever!” Sophia hung up once more.
But Sherry seemed determined today, and she kept calling back no matter how many
times Sophia hung up.
“What do you want, Sherry?” Sophia couldn’t bear it any longer.
Her request was straightforward: “Let Malcolm answer the phone.”
“He’s in the shower and can’t answer.
“Are you playing the same trick again? You’ve already played this trick once,” Sherry
snarled. “Sophia, be warned: if he’s in the shower, walk into the bathroom and hand him
the phone! Otherwise, I will not be able to divorce him for the rest of my life. I always
