Taming The CEO The Escaping Wife Chapter 49

Chapter 49

Unable to contain her emotions, tears streamed down Letitia’s face.

When she was at the end of her rope, a miracle happened.

“Thank you, thank you. Letitia kept saying, “This money means so much to me.

With these forty grand, plus her ten grand salary, her mom could get her pill this month!

Walden asked, “What do you need the money for?”

“My mom woke up,” Letitia said. “She needs her special medicine.”

Walden was just as thrilled, “Really? That’s fantastic! Letitia, can I go visit her?”

She needed Elgin’s approval just to see her own mom. Let alone Walden. But she’d lied to her mom, saying she and Walden were together, so she had to drag him along to show face.

“Not just yet, Letitia replied. “When there’s a chance, I’ll let you know.”

“Alright.” Walden nodded. “Letitia, you’ve got your mom back.”

That comment had Letitia bawling. Her life’s been so damn tough, but the stars aligned just a little, bringing her mom

back to her

Yeah, I’ve got my mom now, Letitia whispered. “I’m not alone.”

Money in hand, Letitia dashed to the hospital, to pay up and get the meds.

She implored the doc, Please, give it to her ASAP. I’ll find a way to cover next month’s meds, I promise.”

“Sure thing.

Η

Letitia’s heart could finally rest.

By the time she finished up and got back to Ivory Towers, it was already night. She walked into the living room, the servants silently bustling, not daring to make a peep.

“Mrs. Ramirez, you’re back, the butler said. “Mr. Ramirez is waiting upstairs for you.”

“I know.” Letitia headed to the master bedroom.

The lengthy hallway was eerily silent, to the point where she could hear her own heartbeat.

She pushed open the master bedroom door and caught Elgin’s gaze, sharp as a knife, fixed on her.

“You’re back?

“Yeah.” She swallowed hard, inching closer, and when she saw the neat stack of fifty grand by Elgin, she covered her mouth in shock.

But Elgin just smirked, “That’s your money, so what are you scared of?”

That smile sent shivers down her spine. The cash she’d just dropped at the hospital was now in Elgin’s hands.

“What did you do instead of getting the abortion?” Elgin’s smile deepened “Tell me, where’d you get all that cash?”

The broader his smile appeared to be, the deeper his inner fury simmered!

Letitia almost wished for Elgin’s rage instead of this eerie calm.

“..I borrowed it.”

Who’d lend to you, huh?” Elgin pressed. “Who’d dare?”

icfitia’s mind faced, blurting out, “Samson.”

Sorry, Mr. Stewart, she thought, but she had to throw him under the bus Because he was Elgin’s friend, nothing would Come of it.

“Are you sure? Elgin leaned in, his eyes dangerous.

Looking into Elgin’s eyes, Letitia realized, he already knew the score.

Just as she opened her mouth, Elgin grabbed a wad of cash and flung it in her face.

“I’ve checked your bank account, Letitia, It was Walden who gave you the money!”

The cash fluttered, smacking her face, then drifting to the floor.

“Great, just great, Elgin threw the rest of the cash, “I let you off my sight for a few minutes and you’re hitting up an old flame for help, you really do surprise me!”

Letitia tried to explain, “I didn’t go to Walden, I just bumped into him.”

“Really? Quite the coincidence! Letitia, you always have excuses!”

Elgin kicked the coffee table over, stood up with veins bulging on his forehead.

“This is the money I gave to the hospital, Elgin, what right do you have to take it?!”

“Because it’s useless without my say-so. The doctors won’t dispense the meds!”

Letitia was shaking all over. She’d barely scraped together the money, thinking it’d ease her mom’s suffering, only to be stopped by Elgin.

He was too powerful, his influence too vast.

“You wouldn’t lend me the money, fine, but why do this…” Letitia looked at him, “Can’t you have a shred of mercy, just a little bit of pity for me?”

Even if it was nothing more than a passing notion of mercy. Just once, to give her a break, to spare her from such. relentless hardship in this harsh world.

But Elgin didn’t. He was only ever more ruthless, never less.

“Who do you think you are? Letitia, did marrying me make you forget your place?”

“I know, I’m the enemy of the Ramirez family, and I’m here to atone…” That confession was incredibly hard for Letitia. “But Elgin, whatever cruel treatment you’ve subjected me to, I’ve endured it, never complaining. My mother is innocent, though, she’s finally woken up, and I just want her to receive her treatment, recover slowly, and live a few more years with me. I just want to be someone who has a mom too.” Tears streamed down her face as she spoke.

Letitia always kept her composure in front of him, never wanted to cry, but now, it was just too much. She squatted down, fighting to keep her eyes wide open, not letting tears blur her vision, picking up the bills one by one

Elgin could toss them, could trample her dignity, not caring about the money. But she didn’t have that luxury. The money mattered to her.

His dress shoes lifted and fell, stepping on the money in Letitia’s hand.

The kid you’re carrying, it’s Walden’s, right?”

“No.” She shook her head.

“You think I’d believe that?”

“Believe it or not,” Letitia said. “Let go, that’s my money.”

Elgin grabbed her off the floor, staring her down, “Yours? Letitia, what Elgin grabbed her off the floor, staring her down, “Yours? Letitia, what do you have? I fed you, dressed you, gave you a job, let you live in my house, even your life is thine!

Her eyes glistened with tears, “What do you want?”

Don’t borrow money again, it’s pointless. Whoever lends it, it won’t reach the hospital, only I can make it happen. “I want my child, and i want rny mother too.”

People who get too greedy often end up with nothing” Flair’s breath hit her face “etitio you want it all bust imuthur anal

you might end up with nothing!”

Her tears dropped onto Elgin’s hand, he frowned in disgust and wiped it away.

“You’re really not gonna get anything out of this. I have to terminate this pregnancy. And your mom, you can’t afford her medical bills”

Elgin just walked right past her, making his exit. Letitia stood there, staring at the money at her feet.

The roar of the sports car echoed through the whole Ivory Towers, then gradually faded away.

Elgin had left the building.

Letitia slowly squatted down, hugged her knees, buried her face in the crook of her arm, and silently shed tears.

Completely alone, she didn’t even allow herself the luxury of letting out a good cry.
