Taming The CEO The Escaping Wife Chapter 66

Chapter 66

“He was in his wet clothes all night, until they dried with his body heat. Seriously, after a wrenching ordeal like that, how can his body take it? Mr. Ramirez started coughing as soon as he got back that moming.”

“He’s been on meds these past couple of days, and he’s a bit better, but still coughing. Plus, the company’s got a ton of stuff waiting for him to handle…”

After hearing this, Letitia blinked slowly for quite some time. What on earth is Elgin thinking?

She realized that she was finding him more and more unfathomable.

He’s the one who wanted her dead, and yet he’s also the one who saved her. Maybe, just maybe, Elgin is just controlling. Her life, or whatever else, he made sure it’s all in his hands.

“Got it. Letitia said, eyes downcast. Im heading out, butler”

“Very well, madam”

Letitia’s mind was a mess, staring out the car window at the scenery flashing by, trying hard to recall the night she jumped into the lake.

She couldn’t swim and was determined to die, the water was bitterly cold, and she quickly sank.

Water flooded over her, filling her lungs, her consciousness was slipping away…

And then, a pair of hands were holding her up, then her lips were kissed by someone. Back then, she really wanted to open her eyes to see who it was, but she just didn’t have the strength

Now, thinking back, it turns out it was Elgin.

He was ruthless, pushing her to the edge, then pulling her back from the brink

Men, they re a bundle of contradictions.

Letitia pushed the door open and walked into the hospital room, putting her wandering thoughts aside.

“Mom,” she called out with a bright smile, “I’m here to see you.”

Malinda was sitting in a wheelchair, trying to do some rehab exercises.

Being bedridden for so long as a comatose patient, her physical functions had declined, and it would take time to recover

Malinda looked at her lovingly, “Letitia, you’re here. Have a seat.”

“Ive been super busy with work these days, so I haven’t been able to visit much,” Letitia said sweetly, squatting next to Malinda, “But you’re always on my mind.”

She rested her head on her mother’s lap, just like when she was a child.

Having her mom around was wonderful.

Baby, this is your grandma, can you see her? Letitia whispered silently in her heart.

“I think about you every day too, it’s just my body… Malinda sighed, “It’s not much use anymore, I’m a burden to you, costing so much

money

“Money’s not an issue, mom.”

“Don’t lie to me. With a room of this standard in such a hospital, it must be costing a fortune each day.”

Letitia shook her head, “The hospital director is a friend of Walden’s, so we got a discount. Don’t worry about it.”

“I take meds and get IVs every day, but I don’t seem to get much better.”

Elgin refused to let her take the special medicine that cost fifty grand each. However, Malinda continued to take her regular medications. Of course, their effectiveness was just so so

“Mom, the fact that you woke up is already a blessing,” Letitia looked up. “Leave these worries to me. You raised me, now it’s my turn to take care of you.”

Malinda’s fingers gently combed through her soft, long hair.

Even doing nothing, just being with her mother felt perfect for Letitia.

It’s just a shame that happy times always fly by so quickly. Before leaving, Letitia almost cried, holding back her tears, “Mom, take good -care of yourself. I make sure you get to see dad again.”

‘Ainght my biggest wish in this life is to have our family reunited”

happen, it surely will.”

Then they reluctantly said goodbye

Chapter 66

The door closed, and Letitia wiped away her tears.

Inside, Malinda also dabbed at the corners of her eyes.

The sound of footsteps faded, and the corridor returned to silence.

Malinda was about to continue her exercises when the door suddenly cracked open, and a figure slipped inside.

“Who’s there?” Malinda looked up at the young woman standing before her, “Who are you?”

Shela cracked a slight smile, “I’m a good friend of your daughter’s”

“Letitia’s friend?”

“Yeah, my name’s Shela Ward.”

Malinda’s expression relaxed, “Nice to meet you, Ms. Ward. Are you looking for Letitia? She just left.”

“No, I came to see you, Shela replied, “There are things Letitia won’t tell you, but I want you to know the truth. A vicious glint flickered in her eyes.

Letitia really cares about her mom, huh? Yeams for familial love? Then she would personally shatter it for her! The more miserable Letitia is, the happier Shela is!

“The truth?” Malinda felt a pang of anxiety. “What do you mean?”

Shela sighed, “Well, the thing is, everything Letitia told you was a pack of lies, designed to deceive you”

All of it?”

“Yep,” Shela nodded affirmatively, “All that stuff about her and Walden being together, her successful career with a good salary, and the hospital bills not being too steep… it’s all lies!”

Malinda’s pupils shrunk, “No, that can’t be

“If you don’t want to believe it, I can’t help you I guess I’ll leave then. I won’t say more about what kind of life Letitia is really living Seems like you don’t want to know

With that. Shela purposefully turned to leave.

“Wait! Malinda called out hastily, “What what’s real happening with Letitia?”

What parent doesn’t ache for their own child? Moreover, Malinda knew the situation with the Sanders family. She had her doubts about Letitia’s story but had no way to verify the truth.

“She did get married, and not too shabbily at that, ended up a well-off trophy wife,” Shela started with a flourish, “Plenty of folks are green with envy.”

Malinda pressed, “Who is she married to?”

…Elgin

The air seemed to freeze. Malinda asked in disbelief, “Elgin? She married Elgin? Marcel’s son?”

“Yep. Shela confirmed with a nod, “She’s so lucky, changing her enemies into family. She’s quite the catch, got some serious chops.”

“No, no… this isn’t right… Malinda kept muttering to herself, her face turning ghostly pale.

The Ramirez family despised the Sanders family so much, how could they possibly have taken Letitia as one of their own out of the blue?

Malinda caught hold of Shela’s sleeve, “Ms. Ward, please tell me, how’s Letitia doing now? Is she in hot water?”

“What do you think? If she were living the high life, why would she keep the truth from you?”

Malinda’s lips quivered non-stop.

“She’s having a rough time, no dignity left whatsoever,” Shela chuckled “Oh, you probably don’t know, during the couple of years you were in a coma, she was cooped up in the loony bin. That place…it really takes a toll on you.”

“The loony bin?”

“Yep, Elgin tossed her in there, just to torment her. Eventually, I guess he got bored with that game and pulled her out to keep her under his thumb, at his beck and call.
