Taming The CEO The Escaping Wife Chapter 82

Chapter 82

He snuffed out the cigarette with a heavy press. The master bedroom was as silent as the grave.

After a long pause, Elgin spoke up. “You sure? No regrets?”

“I’m sure, no regrets.”

“Good.” He cracked a slight smile, “Letitia, you’re gonna pay for this.”

Clarity returned to Elgin’s eyes, so did his sanity.

He had wanted to indulge himself just once, to let go of all the hatred and be with Letitia properly.

But… she wouldn’t have it. She was still as ungrateful as ever!

He strode out, and as he passed Letitia, he stirred a breeze that lifted her loose hair.

The moment the door shut. Letitia felt as if all her strength had been drained, and she slowly slid down the wall to sit on the floor. Once again, she had chosen her child

She reasoned in her mind, “Mom, Dad, it’s not that I’m not choosing you, but I’m banking on the day when the truth is revealed. Then, we can all be together again. Even if Elgin releases you now, you’d still have to live under a cloud of scandal.

Uncovering the truth and clearing your names is what I’m striving for. And I firmly believe that a day of justice will come. And the child… all I can do is try my hardest to keep him safe for now. He’s too fragile, and he only has me.”

Letitia hugged her knees, looking out the window at the endless moonlight.

The child still had her, and her parents were waiting for her to save them, but who did she have?

She only had herself, like a lone soldier in battle.

The road was tough and long, but she was determined to grit her teeth and keep going.

That night, Elgin didn’t show up again.

Letitia slept on the floor, which felt more solid to her than the luxurious bed beside her.

The next day when she went downstairs, the servants were unusually quiet, treading on eggshells as they worked.

Elgin sat leisurely at the head of the dining table, sipping his coffee as if nothing had changed, his face calm and unruffled.

He seemed no different than usual, but Letitia felt a chilling coldness emanating from him.

It reminded her of the Elgin she first met.

Back then, he was aloof and aristocratic, his gaze empty and condescending. Today, he had reverted to that state. And the distance between her and him had been stretched once again.

“Ma’am,” the butler inquired, “would you like oatmeal or sandwich?”

“Mrs. Ramirez Thank you.” Letitia pulled out a chair and sat down, silent.

Elgin acted as if she was invisible

Last night, his heart had softened for her briefly, but now… it was even harder than iron!

Letitia didn’t deserve it!

This heavy and quiet atmosphere was only broken when Mark showed up.

“Mr. Ramirez, Mark rushed into the dining room, “I finally found you!”

Elgin turned his head, “What is it?”

Mark glanced at Letitia, his expression hesitant.

“Speak, Elgin commanded, “out with it.”

Alright, Mr. Ramirez, actually… I have some good news for you.”

Elgin looked uninterested as he asked, “What good news?”

“Shela’s pregnant!” Mark announced jubilantly, “She felt unwell last night, complaining of stomach pains, and didn’t want to disturb you, so she asked me to take her to the hospital. And after a check-up, the doctor confirmed she’s pregnant!”

Shela… pregnant? Letitia’s mind went blank at the news.

Chapter 82

But it made sense.

The one time she saw was probably just another day in the life of Elgin and Shela.

In private, they were even more intimate and affectionate.

The difference between people is immense. Letitia thought. Her own child had to struggle just to survive, while Shela’s child would be born with a silver spoon.

She’s pregnant? Elgin’s expression shifted at the news

It was unexpected for him. But indeed, Shela was his woman. And that night, he had taken no precautions.

Mark nodded vigorously. Yes, Shela is still in the ward now. The doctor says she’s frail and needs to stay in the hospital for recuperation. Once the fetus is stable, she can be discharged”

As Mark spoke, he kept an eye on Elgin’s reaction. It was a risky move, but it had to be made.

Anything was better than sitting ducks.

Mark sneaked a glance at Letitia’s belly, his emotions a mix of jealousy and envy. If only it had been Shela that night, securing the bloodline of the Ramirez family would have meant a life of splendor and wealth!

“Mr. Ramirez, Shela didn’t want me to tell you, because she’s afraid you’d worry,” Mark wrung his hands, “but I thought you should know…, Shela is just too considerate”

Letitia nearly rolled her eyes at that.

Considerate? That word was hardly in Shela’s vocabulary!

Elgin stood up to leave, “I’m going to see her.”

“Great, great, she’ll be thrilled to see you! Mark followed him out, all smiles.

Letitia stared at her breakfast, finding it tasteless and unable to eat a bite.

But thinking of her child, she picked up her spoon.

Just then, Elgin’s footsteps suddenly halted.

Mark, puzzled, asked, “Mr. Ramirez, what’s… what’s wrong?”

“Letitia,” his gaze fixed on her, “come with me.”

Letitia pointed to herself, Me? I…

But Elgin had no patience for her words; he was already out of Ivory Towers.

She had no choice there, he always meant what he said, and she had to comply.

At the hospital, in the ward.

Mark and Shela had planned this scene well, so when Elgin walked in, Shela acted surprised and delighted, “Mr. Ramirez? What brings you here?”

Then she turned to Mark with a reproachful look, “Dad, I told you, Mr. Ramirez is busy with a lot of work. You shouldn’t bother him with such trivial matters

“Shela, how can your pregnancy be a trivial matter?

Shela said with a lot of self-blame, “I wasn’t even paying attention to my own body, didn’t even realize I was pregnant. Lucky for me, I didn’t pop any random pills or get injured during this time, or the little one wouldn’t be safe and sound in my belly.

“And we just…” Shela’s cheeks turned red, “Thank goodness we didn’t hurt the baby. That would have been a stroke of terrible luck I’d be kicking myself.”

She gently touched her flat stomach, looking at Elgin feeling helpless and wronged

Any guy would go soft in the heart seeing her like this.

Elgin walked over to the bedside, his eyes filled with a complex gaze.

It blindsided him.. the idea of Shela having his baby, it was a complete shock.

But then again, he hadn’t exactly been cautious that particular night.
