The Regrettable Divorce by Isabel Eliot Chapter 1

The Regrettable Divorce by Isabel Eliot Chapter 1

Chapter 1 Let’s Get A Divorce

In late autumn, the night sky was pitch dark.

It was almost midnight. Isabella Silverbrook was about to fall asleep when she heard the sound of a car driving into the villa. He was home!

After a while, the bedroom door was kicked open heavily. Octavian Stormcrest stepped in and looked coldly at the woman in front of him. She was his nominal wife.

“Isabella, Vespera is back. Let’s get a divorce!”

Isabella narrowed her eyes slightly and looked at the divorce agreement in his hand. “Octavian, did you come home so late just to get a divorce?”

In the two years of their marriage, he had only come home a handful of times. If it weren’t for this divorce agreement, he probably wouldn’t have come at all!

“Why else would I come here?” Octavian asked indifferently.

“What if I refuse to divorce you?” Isabella wore an elusive smile on her face, and her eyes shone with stubbornness. “Octavian, why do you think I would agree to divorce you? What makes you think that I would let you two get together after two years?”

“You…” Octavian’s eyes looked cruel. He darted forward and wrapped his big hands around her neck.

A strong smell of alcohol hit her face. She frowned and said with difficulty, “Are you going to strangle me to death for Vespera?”

She could no longer recognize the man in front of her. Was he really the Octavian she had once loved so deeply?

After a long time, when Isabella felt that all the air in her chest was about to be sucked out, he finally let go of her.

She collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath. She was almost out of breath, but it was nothing compared to the heart-wrenching pain she was feeling.

“What on earth do you want?” Octavian looked down at the pale-faced Isabella. “Is two years of marriage not enough? I don’t love you. No matter how long it would be, I will never love you!”

His words pierced her heart like a sharp blade!

There it was! He didn’t love her. This was a fact that had never changed! She was too arrogant to think that she could win even the slightest bit of love from him.

“So what? I’m still Mrs. Stormcrest, and Vespera can only be a mistress!” She didn’t dare to give in at all. This was the last shred of pride and dignity she had.

“Do you really want to be Mrs. Stormcrest so badly?” Even knowing that he didn’t love her, did she still want to be his wife?

“The Stormcrest family is rich and powerful. Many women want to be Mrs. Stormcrest. I’m not stupid. If I stay in this marriage, I have half of the wealth of the Stormcrests.” Her words successfully irritated him, and the man’s deep eyes became gloomier.

Good! Very good! He would do as she wished then!

Before she could react, he had already yanked her up from the ground and thrown her onto the bed mercilessly. As the world spun, she only felt dizzy, and her mind went blank.

“I’ve underestimated you, Isabella.” How dare she ask for half of the Stormcrests’ wealth? How shameless was she?

By the time he finished speaking, he had already pinned her down on the bed.

“What… what are you doing?” Isabella wanted to push him away, but her strength was no match for his. She knew that Octavian hated her and would never touch her, which was why she had the courage to provoke him. But at this moment, when the two of them were so close, she panicked. This was not what she had expected.

“Don’t you want to be Mrs. Stormcrest? Then I’ll fulfill your wish and let you be the real Mrs. Stormcrest.” As he spoke, he was already reaching out to loosen the belt of her nightgown.

As her nightgown was ripped off her shoulders, her fair skin came into view, and Octavian paused slightly.

“Octavian, are you crazy?” Isabella asked, tears welling up in her eyes. For the past two years, she had always wanted to give herself to him, but not now.

How could she still give herself to him foolishly after he just asked to divorce her?

However, Octavian had already covered her lips with his. His kiss was rough and domineering. The strong smell of alcohol filled her mouth, almost suffocating her.

She knew that he was doing this to take revenge and humiliate her on purpose.

“Octavian, aren’t you afraid that Vespera will be upset if she finds out that you slept with me?” Isabella was no match for him in strength.

But she knew what he cared about the most.

Octavian stopped what he was doing and got up, looking disgusted.

Isabella pulled the quilt over and wrapped herself in it. With tears in her eyes, she looked up at him and asked coldly, “Octavian, are you sure Grandma will agree to our divorce?”

“Don’t try to use Grandma to threaten me, Isabella. I’ve repaid you enough with these four years!” Octavian said. His cold and handsome face was full of anger.

“So, I have to divorce you then, haven’t I?” Isabella looked at the man in front of her and felt heartbroken.

She knew this moment would come sooner or later.

Ever since Vespera returned to the country, she knew that she and Octavian couldn’t even remain a couple in name only.

She thought of the provocative messages that Vespera had sent her today.

[Get a divorce, Isabella. I’ve always been the one Tave loves. Why do you insist on being Mrs. Stormcrest?

[As long as you agree to the divorce, I’ll ask Tave to give you a large sum of money to ensure that you won’t have to worry about making a living in the future.

[You don’t deserve him at all, Isabella. Even in bed, he calls out my name only. Don’t embarrass yourself!]

Four years ago, the Silverbrooks went bankrupt. Before her mother passed away, Isabella was entrusted to Old Mrs. Stormcrest because Isabella’s mother had saved Old Mrs. Stormcrest’s life before. Isabella stayed with the Stormcrests for four years. Two years ago, she became Octavian’s wife as soon as she graduated from college.

However, in Octavian’s heart, Isabella was nothing but a scheming and vain woman. He believed that she only pretended to be all sweet and kind to please Old Mrs. Stormcrest and that she forced Vespera to leave so that she could become his wife.

The Stormcrests had paid off a large sum of money for the Silverbrooks and gave Isabella a carefree life due to Isabella’s mother having saved Old Mrs. Stormcrest. It was outrageous that Isabella only wanted more!

Octavian threw the divorce agreement in front of her. “Sign it! I will transfer this villa to you. There’s 6 million dollars on this card. In the future, don’t try to get Grandma to do anything more for you because of the life debt she owes your mother! She has done enough for you already!”

This was his compensation to her for agreeing to the divorce. It was also his way of telling her that from this point on, she had nothing to do with the Stormcrests anymore.

In his eyes, she was nothing but despicable and shameless!

Isabella flipped to the last page of the agreement. He had already signed it. It seemed that he really couldn’t wait to divorce her.

She clenched her fists so hard that her fingertips dug into her palms, but she didn’t feel any pain at all.

There was a hint of bitterness in her eyes. It seemed that she was too persistent.

It was time for her feelings toward him and their nominal marriage to end.

Isabella signed her name and handed the agreement back to him. As such, their two-year marriage had come to an end.

“We’ll go our separate ways from now on, Octavian. We’ll be strangers even if we meet again.”

Octavian took the divorce agreement, glanced at her indifferently, and turned to leave. He didn’t want to stay for another second.

Isabella had stayed in such a big villa for two years, only in the hope that someone would be waiting for him when he finally wanted to come home. However, now that she looked back at the two years she had spent here, everything was like a joke.

She made a phone call and packed lightly overnight. She took everything she owned away and left everything that was never hers at the villa.

Since she had decided to divorce him, she should cut off all ties with him and stop herself from having any other thoughts about him.

Half an hour later, a black Mercedes-Benz stopped outside the villa. Isabella got into the car and said, “Mr. Carson, take me back to Peaceful Grove.”
