Chapter 29
“What would you like to have for dinner?” Alpha Kaiden leaned on the wall beside the staircase, and Anastasia looked at him with a wronged expression before rolling her eyes.
“Nothing. I was actually waiting for you to arrive,” Anastasia stood from
her place.
Kaiden looked at Logan, who was sitting, leaning back in his seat with his eyes closed and a duffle bag beside Anastasia’s legs..
“She really thought she could run away from here, didn’t she?” Kaiden mused, and Logan smiled.
“You knew?” Anastasia asked, surprised that he could figure out she was about to run from the pack even in his sickness, and Kaiden chuckled, his laugh held no amusement this time.
“What do you think gave me the reputation that I hold today? Do you think I work so sloppily? You are still a threat to the pack and everyone near us,” Kaiden paused with a mischievous grin.
“And before you ask what your crime is, let’s go back to how I found a blood–soaked blouse in your purse. We got it tested, and it was indeed Carl’s blood. The rogue head would be arriving in the regions soon, and you are our prime suspect for causing this mess,” he completed his
sentence.
She looked down in shame. It was the exact same reason she was running from here in the first place, apart from his marriage proposal of course. As eager as she was to meet the rogue head, she still didn’t want to meet him under such circumstances where he would grab her neck and think about snapping it first rather than hearing anything about her explanation or anything at all.
‘Are you kidding me? He is such a double–faced man. He wasn’t like this when he was holding us in his arms or kissing us, Dione said, and Anastasia rolled her eyes.
Was that really the most important thing right now? They should be worrying about how Alpha Kaiden wasn’t letting them go anywhere anymore. Anastasia sighed and was about to leave and walk to her room when Kaiden held her hand, and looked at Logan, who immediately nodded at his alpha and left the bo
Kaiden didn’t waste a single second and pinned her to the wall, sneaking his hand under her waist before he pulled her closer and placed his mouth on her neck.
“Even if you don’t particularly smell like anything, it’s your faint smell that makes me want to smell you again and again like a drug,” Kaiden said. before he licked the base of her neck, and she closed her eyes.
“Anyway, I stopped you because I want to let you know that I will be gone for two days. Behave. I don’t want to hear about any complaints when I return,” Kaiden said, and Anastasia scoffed.
Kaiden chuckled loudly before he grabbed her chin and tilted it to force. her to look into his eyes.
“Scoff at me like that one more time, and I assure you that I will forget I am a gentleman and enter your throat as deep as I can from where that scoff arises, Kaiden threatened, and Anastasia looked at him with wide
eyes.
She couldn’t believe what he said. Where was the gentleman who was treating her with respect? How can one kiss and an anger management incident turn a man like this?
“Yes, that’s the expression I like on your face. Your eyes wide, your lips slightly apart as you wait for me to pleasure you,” Kaiden pressed two fingers on the side of her abdomen.
“Mmmmm,” Anastasia’s moan sounded, and she closed her eyes in pure embarrassment.
Anastasia hated how easily he was able to get a reaction out of her, even when he had no experience in this field.
“I will have some hakka noodles please,” Anastasia said, trying her best that her voice doesn’t come out in a breathless whisper.
“Sounds good,” Kaiden whispered against her neck, pecking her lips softly before smiling and stepping away.
After three hours, almost everyone in the pack was either sleeping or enjoying their time with their family when Anastasia walked outside to have a little walk.
So our plan of running off didn’t work again,‘ Anastasia said, waiting for her wolf’s input on the matter since she is the only one she can actually
talk to I without feeling judged.
‘Hmmm, Dione hummed.
And for some reason, I feel you are happy with it,’ Anastasia said. Her wolf looked down at her feet, her wagging tail between her legs, and Anastasia sighed.
Such a strong reaction, wasn’t it? Did she really need to say anything after this?
‘I am sorry, but I think Alpha Kaiden actually helped us out of our miseries,‘ Dione said, and Anastasia thinned her lips.
‘Well, until today, I didn’t know I was so eager to get out of my miseries,'” Anastasia said, not liking how even her wolf was acting like her revenge was not meaningful. And even though a part of what her wolf said was indeed true, she didn’t want that thing to come between their revenge plan.
There was no way she was going to let her mother’s suicide go to waste.
‘Anastasia, that wasn’t what I meant and –‘ Dione couldn’t complete her sentence because Anastasia blocked the mind link and kept walking towards the forest.
And here she thought that her wolf would at least get her. She scowled at herself, a hint of mockery in her mind for her pathetic life.
‘Anastasia, Anastasia heard a voice, and she narrowed her eyes.
‘How did you break the mind barrier? How are you able to speak to me even when – Anastasia stopped when she realised this wasn’t her wolf’s voice but someone else.
This same voice again.
Wasn’t it the same voice because of which she had stopped and gotten into the problem today?
She looked around, trying to find the source. Was it even there, or was she just imagining things? She gulped, starting to walk in the other direction hurriedly.
However, it wasn’t like this before. For the first time, the presence of the voice wasn’t the only thing that changed around her.
Like a maze. The forest that appeared so similar was like a maze now, and Anastasia turned around, running in random directions, unable to find her way.
You can’t run away from me forever, Anastasia. I am the truth that you’ll have to face sooner or later. The sooner you understand the better it wh
“If you have something to say to me, then come and say it to my face. Why do you keep haunting me like a never–ending nightmare?!”
Anastasia screeched.
Today wasn’t the first time she had heard the voice, and this weird cold creep crept on her skin.
Things like this have been happening ever since she left the pack, and while one part of her heart wants to believe it is some witch trying to tell her something, the reasonable part knows that some witch is just playing
with her.
But the main question was, why her out of all the people? Among all the rogues and wolves out there, why did only her life have so many surprise. elements? She didn’t want any of that.
All she wanted was a happy peaceful life after she avenged her mother’s death.
