Chapter 41
“I think you have taken me far enough. Now, can I know what exactly it was your wanted to talk to me about and couldn’t do in front of Kaiden?” Anastasia said, and the witch paused.
o say to
Anastasia jerked her hand away from the witch, unsure of what do anymore. Though she was acting confident, it wouldn’t be wrong to say she was surprised and a bit shaken.
And why not? The freaking witch made her disappear and took her here just in the blink of her eyes. Who knows what else she is capable of or has in mind? She had only heard about witches so far. This was the first time she was meeting one, and so far, it didn’t look too promising. They were mythical creatures who could do anything and everything they wanted.
Like many species, this particular set of people has good and bad too.
The bad witches who perform black magic for someone’s demise are called the dark witches.
Anastasia already had this much information about them.
Thus, she was surprised that a witch would want to talk to her.
“I guess I should come straight to the point too since our girl is so impatient?” The witch asked.
Who did she call ‘our‘? She was no one’s girl anymore. Anastasia narrowed her head before nodding, not voicing out her thoughts.
“I am here to talk to you about something you have, or should I say always had but had no knowledge about. It would be better if I start by asking some questions. so you understand what exactly I am talking about,” the witch said.
“First, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Cristina Wor. I am a light world witch with tenth–grade powers, but the only information that should be important to you should be – I was your mother’s closest person while she was living with us,” The witch said, and the last sentence piqued Anastasia’s curiosity. But then, the first name was no better either. Were all Kristine in her life meant to make her life hell? First, it was her fake best friend, and this weird witch who god knows wants what from her?
Wait. What did she say? Something even more important caught her attention. “Closest? My mom lived with the witches? When was it? In her teenage life? Why did she live with you to start with? Weren’t we supposed to live with our kind of people only from the beginning? The rules must’ve been really tough that time too, Anastasia said.
Rather than answering her questions, the witch looked at her for a few seconds. before smiling.
“How cute, she whispered, confusing Anastasia.
“So, my first question begins. Why do you think you couldn’t change into your wolf, Anastasia?” The witch asked.
It was probably the easiest question if this witch was going to play some Q&A game with her.
“She didn’t want to
“She didn’t want to, or she couldn’t? Or she shouldn’t? Your wolf has wings, doesn’t she? Why does a mere wolf has wings, despite its power? Why don’t you ask your wolf why she has been so proactive these days when earlier she couldn’t bother to change? She could’ve improved your life, right?” The witch asked, and Anastasia narrowed her eyes.
“Your wolf doesn’t want to answer them? Well, I have more questions. Tell me, have you ever seen your mother changing into a wolf? Like, she must’ve appeared like a wolf, but in all these 18 years of life, have you ever seen her change into one right in front of you?” The witch asked, stepping closer to Anastasia, making her feel weird.
She didn’t like how this witch was trying to catch her off–guard again and again by asking questions that she should already know the answer to, but she had no idea. “Will you believe me if I say your mother didn’t die of cancer or tumour?” The witch asked.
She didn’t like this set of questions. But most importantly, she didn’t like how this witch was able to hit the nail right on the head.
What did she mean her mother didn’t die of that? She had seen a clear tumour lump in her head in her scanned reports.
“If you know it all, why don’t you tell me the truth rather than going around in circles?” Anastasia was growing wary of this witch now,
The witch didn’t say anything.
She just looked at Anastasia and smiled.
“Oh, sweety, I didn’t say I was here to tell you any kind of truth, did I? You see, I don’t have much time here. There’s something that I needed to do, and it happened right when I held your hand. I was waiting and killing time for so long. because I wanted to see if it would work or not, but it’s working. Congratulations on unlocking your potential, the witch said before she disappeared into thin air. Wait what? What did she say? She did her work when she held her hand? Anastasia looked down at her hand, unsure of what she was talking about when she suddenly noticed something.
It was so small that it wasn’t even visible properly until one focused on that point. What was this supposed to mean?
Anastasia looked at a weird little star and moon duo on the inner side of her wrist and sighed.
She looked around, pressing her lips into a thin line.
Now, how she is supposed to go back from –
Anastasia couldn’t even complete her thoughts when she appeared right from where that witch had abducted her.
She sighed, ready to return to Grayson’s camp when she saw a silhouette of someone sitting beside the tree near the lake.
Only his hand shoulder was visible, but even after that, she didn’t need someone to tell her who this person was.
Her heart softened at the sight of him.
Did he really wait for her? But why would he
Could it be that his feelings for her are genuine? She has been broken in love so much that she didn’t want to give her heart to anyone, but….
But wasn’t he broken too? For the past years, he hadn’t been able to touch any woman, and even the right to have a mate was snatched from him. All because of a mistake.
It wasn’t about just being able to touch a woman. It was about not having the basic love that every werewolf desires.
The chances of a wolf rejecting others were really rare since it was the moon. goddess who decided upon these matters, but it was still there.
However, what was happening with Kaiden was beyond anyone’s control.
And even after being called a notorious monster and a devil, he was still willing to sit on the ground and wait for her return.
Anastasia gulped before she looked around and started walking to him.
He must be really tired, looking for her all day. From what she heard when Kaiden and Logan were talking, he had been looking for her since the afternoon after he saw that clip of her getting bullied.
“Why are you making my resolution to get my revenge faster, Kaiden? I also wish to have a happy life, but I can’t sit relaxed knowing my tormenter is out there. living his best life while I am suffering and being haunted by those memories,” Anastasia whispered to him.
“Forgive me, but I can’t accept your feelings, Anastasia said before she turned around and walked away.
Kaiden, who had been away from the moment he heard her shuffling behind him, opened his eyes as soon as she left.
His gaze quivered before he took a deep breath, looking at the lake in front of him.
He has been rejected. And while he had all the reasons to stop him, he couldn’t this time, not when she mentioned her revenge.
After he saw that clip, the horror on her face, he knew exactly how important this was for her. Maybe, rather than being the obstacle in her life, he should be
focusing on how to get her back legally.
Tomorrow was the annual meeting of council members, alphas, and all the important members, and he was sure Anastasia was summoned.
He saw the messages on her phone earlier when she wasn’t looking.
She said that she couldn’t accept his feelings. Very well, he will take her legally from the council now.
It was a bad thing that she didn’t understand he would have her by hook or crook. It looks like he has an alpha to beat the shit out of
