Zoe raised her eyes and stared directly at Mason. His eyes were inscrutable in the dim light. She simply couldn’t tell what was on his
mind!
After a brief pause, he asked softly, “Did you see it?”
Pointing at the documents on the floor, she shook uncontrollably. Did you hire a bunch of shrinks to study me and advise you on how to deal with me? Just what do you think I am, Mason? Am I just another plaything? You said you loved me. Is this what you call love? Hiring ten shrinks to analyze me like I’m some kind of weirdo?
“You bought a dog to please me! Here I am, thinking that you did it because you knew what I liked. It turns out it was all a ploy devised by a team of shrinks! The puppy was nothing but a tool!
“Everything you did for me was a calculated step in your game. You even planned out when you were going to have sex with me!
“You robbed me of my privacy and my pride, Mason! You don’t love me. You merely wanted to own me in your perverted way! You don’t know how to love anyone!”
Tears filled her eyes when she was done talking.
How miserable! How humiliating!
Every time she mustered up the courage to leave him, he’d pester her and refuse to let go. Every time, he’d convince her that he was sincere, that he really loved her. She even let it get to her head and started looking forward to having a baby with him.
It turned out that reality was far more cruel.

He forced himself in between her legs.

He pinched her chin lightly and forced her lips open with his thumb. Caressing her smooth lips, his fingers rubbed them and they turned red instantly. It was embarrassing for her.
Pulling off her bathrobe, he remarked snidely, “You can’t have everything, Zoe! I admit that I did hire a group of psychiatrists to analyze you and figure out ways to please you, but didn’t you enjoy the fruits of my labor?
“Your entire family is living a better life because of me. Also, look at all of your clothes and the things you wear. Didn’t I buy them all for \you? Even this bathrobe you wore to seduce me was bought with my
money!”
