Chapter 188
Zoe said with trembling lips, “If you care so much about her, then feel free to marry her, Mason!”
She felt around with her hands and found a pill bottle. Mason walked over and picked it up. It was a bottle of birth control pills.
He looked at her and she stared back at him. She uttered calmly, “Your didn’t wear a condom last night! So, I went ahead and took a pill. Do you have a problem with that?”
He replied with a blank face, “None whatsoever!” With that, he turned around and left.
Lilith groaned when he brushed past her.
“Mason!”
Lowering his head, he looked at her bloodied forehead and barked at the doctors standing at the door, “Dress her wounds! She needs to die pretty, so make sure there isn’t a scar!”
Leaving the ward, he marched into the hallway. What Zoe said kept playing on a loop in his mind.
“You didn’t wear a condom last night! So, I went ahead and took a pill. Do you have a problem with that?”
It wasn’t that long ago that he took a stroll with her under the snow in the evening light. He had embraced her and told her that he was ready to be a dad. He said he wanted a little girl to run at him and ask for hugs when he came home from work!
Now, however, Zoey accused him of not knowing how to love anyone!
She no longer wanted anything to do with him!

It wasn’t about her loving or hating him. She didn’t even want him to be a part of her life.
Ava was right at his heels and spoke softly, “The top management staff are still waiting to continue the meeting, Mr. Mason!”
Raising his hand, he barked, “Ask them to go home! We’ll decide on the matter on another day!”
Ava didn’t have the guts to question him.
Mason drove back to the villa alone. Snow had stopped falling. The heater was turned on, but there was a sense of coldness in the place. Even the servants kept the chattering to a minimum.
There were still dried stains from last night on the desk in the study. He recalled that he lost it and forced himself on her, but Zoe didn’t even struggle. She simply laid motionless, letting him torture her without any resistance. There wasn’t any life in her eyes at that
moment.
On the other hand, he wanted to see her have a meltdown. So, he became rougher with her. Truth be told, he even forced her to do something he had never done to her in the past. For a second there, she looked a little lost, as if she couldn’t believe what he was doing to her. Something shattered within her that night.
She didn’t really fight back throughout the entire process.
So, she was already thinking about leaving behind everything when he was having his way with her. She had already made up her mind that she no longer wanted him in her life!
His phone rang. It was the hospital director.
“There was a tragic accident at the amusement park and it resulted in more than a hundred victims, Mr. Mason. We’re facing a severe manpower shortage right now! But, Ms. Lilith is in a critical condition

as we speak. Should we have…?”
Mason cut him off and said lightly, “Mobilize all available hands to save the amusement park victims.” With that, he hung up the phone.
However, he forgot about something important. It wasn’t just ordinary patients in his hospital. Zoe was in there too.
Evening rolled on and Zoe’s fever shot up to over a hundred degrees Fahrenheit again. All of the medical personnel were transferred to save the amusement park victims while the few that remained were doing their best to pull Lilith back from the brink of death. After all, she was the most important lady in his life.
Meanwhile, Zoe’s fever was so bad that she was in a trance. It hurt so bad that she called out to her mother as well as Mia.
The servant thought she heard her call out to Mason’s name once when the pain became particularly unbearable. She tried to listen closer, but Zoe never uttered his name again,
She wept and kept wiping Zoe with wet cloths, desperately using the most traditional way to help bring down her dy temperature.
Then, night came and grew darker.
