Chapter 192
Mason couldn’t help but take a step back.
Zoe said with quivering lips, “Don’t push me, or I’ll take care of your precious Lilith!”
He gulped.
After a brief moment, he said softly “I thought you could duck out of the way back then! I didn’t do it because I love her. You’re the one I…”
He stopped abruptly. He was about to say that Zoe was the one he loved and that he didn’t harbor any feelings toward Lilith.
However, he chose to protect Lilith, instead of Zoe, when it mattered the most. He failed at protecting his wife.
Then, he left her ward. He had never experienced this level of emptiness. Deep down, he knew that it was over between them.
Nothing could possibly salvage their relationship.
She didn’t just look at him as though she didn’t know him anymore. There was also hatred in her eyes. Who would blame her? He chose to sacrifice her and save his alleged mistress when she was about to
realize her musical dream.
That night, she claimed that he didn’t know how to love anyone and he retaliated out of anger.
This time, however, he cast her aside again. The truth was that Zoe was right. He didn’t know how to love. He had been taught to prioritize financial gain ever since he was young. Powers and status were far more important than everything, even family.

As a matter of fact, he should’ve set her free.
He should’ve let go so that she could live her life. It didn’t matter if she married Gregory or Cecil in the future. He should’ve made up to her by giving her his best wishes. The fact was that he owed her too
much.
With that said, he didn’t want to. Given the current circumstances and that Zoe hated him, he still wanted to have her for himself!
Was it still about the sex?
If that was the case, then why did it break his heart to see her cry? He was experiencing a feeling that was both familiar and strange. Was it love? Did he love Zoe?
The clicks of his leather shoe were the only sound in the hallway.
Lilith was at the end of it. She wheeled over the moment she saw him. She sobbed, “I swear, I didn’t mean for it to happen, Mason! I couldn’t possibly have known this tragedy would happen!”
He didn’t look at her, nor did he listen to what she said. Instead, he merely pushed her wheelchair away and wiped his hands with his white handkerchief afterward. After all, he just touched Lilith.
Lowering his eyes, which had turned slightly red, he wiped his hand and said softly, “Zoe doesn’t like it when I touch other women!”
Looking at him, she said, “But you protected me just now! You clearly love me, Mason. Why won’t you admit it?”
He raised his eyes and stared at her. After a long pause, he tossed his handkerchief into a nearby trashcan. Leaning over, he said softly,” You read too much into it, Lilith! Taking pity on you isn’t the same as loving you!”

accept it.
On the other hand, he kept walking, an air of loneliness about him.
Zoe was lying in his arms not that long ago. Her cheeks were red as she held Sherry. At the same time, he was so happy to have gotten
her back.
However, he had forgotten about all of it when she pushed his
buttons.
He had fucking forgotten about it.
Now, he had finally hurt her so badly that they had come to the end of
the line…
