Chapter 191
Mason knelt on the pavement and held Zoe in his arms. She was covered in so much blood that it stained his palms as red as wine.
He called out to her in a trembling voice, but she could no longer hear him. Her eyes were closed and her body was slowly wasting away. The warmth was leaving her body as rapidly as she had lost her love for him…
A single tear fell straight into his aching heart.
The doctors were rushing in and out of the emergency room in Lockwood Hospital. None of them dared cause any delays.
Mason stood right outside the operating room. Raising his eyes, he looked at the red light outside of the operating room. All he could hear was what the doctor told him moments ago
“You need to be prepared, Mr. Mason. Ms. Zoe suffered a compound fracture on her left arm. She might never be able to perform delicate
tasks with it in the future!”
What did it mean? Did it mean that she could no longer play the violin? They hadn’t even started the surgery then. How could they simply declare the worst-case scenario?
What would happen to her when she came around?
He didn’t have the guts to let his mind travel down that road!
Making a phone call with a blank expression, he asked Ava to look for the best surgeon in the world. He’d pay any price to fix her left arm.
Ava paused a little before responding, “The best surgeons in the
world are already working in your hospital, Mr. Mason.”
He had hired them for Lilith!

It was the middle of the night when Zoe woke up. The night lamp was the only thing lit in her ward. She could almost hear the whistling wind outside through the stillness in there.
It must’ve been freezing outside!
She was hurt all over. The pain was unbearable. However, she paid them no need. Lowering her gaze, she stared at the gauze on her left
arm.
It was a compound fracture!
Having practiced violin since a young age, she knew better than anyone what this meant. She could no longer play the violin. She could never have her own Global Classical Music Concert, nor could
she become a violinist and unleash her melodious talent on a
glamorous stage.
Her hopes of realizing her musical dream were dashed now.
Mason was gripping her right hand firmly. Withdrawing her right hand, she didn’t want to see him or have any physical contact with him.
That woke him up. He sat up and wiped his face. Then, they locked gazes with each other in the dark. However, she turned her head away and buried it deep in the pillow. Tears started flowing and soaked the white pillow.
She cried miserably, her thin back shivering lightly. She looked so vulnerable and fragile as if she’d fall into pieces at the lightest touch!
A few nights ago, she was lying beneath him as a bead of sweat rolled down her thighs. He might’ve been rough with her that night,
but he couldn’t resist but lower his head and kiss it.
“Zoe!” Calling out to her, he wanted to pull her into his arms. However, he had just touched her shoulder lightly and she reacted dramatically She shook his arms off and her entire body ached. The pain was so intense she had to breathe in while having her face buried in the pillow.
After a long time, she said with a suppressed tone, “Can you please get out of my sight, Mason? I don’t want to look at you! You remind me of my foolishness every time I see you. I’m like a pet you bought to amuse yourself with!”
Tears streamed down her face, but she ignored them. She continued to say softly, “Stop lying to me that you love me. It has ruined me over and over again! Lilith wouldn’t have pestered me if it wasn’t because of your so-called love. I wouldn’t have lost the ability to realize my dream, either!
“I can’t play your games anymore. I’ve got nothing I can lose now! All 1 have is my life! Don’t do it. Don’t push me to the edge!”
