I Refuse to Divorce! by Light Breeze Chapter 201

Chapter 201

The neon lights were lit brightly in Hücksburgh.

Both of them stood in the bustling streets. They were a couple, but there wasn’t a shred of intimacy between them.

Mason was still hearing what she said in the concert hall.

“However, my music career had reached the end of the line due to the injury I sustained in my left arm. For that matter, our marriage

reached the end of the line as well.

“With that said, I will still love someone if he’s worthy of me. I’ll pursue my other passions as well!”

He gulped at the thought of it. She was saying that she would eventually fall in love with another man!

Zoe took a step back and said softly while staring at him, “I need a moment with myself. Stop following me. Don’t ask anyone to tail me, either. I’m sick of you asking someone to stalk me, Mason!”

Strong winds blew past them, tousling his hair. The glow from the neon lights shone on him, adding a layer of maturity to his brows.

Then, it hit him. They were actually a very young couple. She was merely twenty-one years old and he was twenty-five years old when they got married. He had just found his footing in Lockwood Corporation.

She was the naive, inexperienced girl while he was a cunning, scheming man who sacrificed a lot of people for his achievements. How was their marriage supposed to stand any chance, then?

Today will mark the end of it, at long last.

Silence hung over them for a long time before he spoke, “You don’t have a cellphone or any money on you. Don’t wander off too far!”

Taking a few steps back, she turned and left in the blink of an eye. She ran fast, as if she couldn’t stay there for one more second. She’d feel awful just breathing the same air with him.

Her shadow grew longer under the glow of the street light as she ran further and further away from him.

He watched as she left..

Was this how much she detested him?

By the time Zoe came back to the hotel, it was the middle of the night and it had started snowing. She opened the door to find Mason. working on the couch.

He heard the noise and raised his eyes. Surprisingly, he felt a chill down his spine when he realized that she was back.

He said in a husky voice, “You’re back!”

Lowering her head, she took off her shoes. “I didn’t realize that would surprise you. Don’t you always have someone stalking my every

move?”

“I was just worried about you.”

Putting down his laptop, he went to her and caught his breath when he saw blood seeping from the bandage on her arm.

“Let me dress your left arm again. Then, we’ll call for room service. You must be starving.”

How thoughtful and affectionate of him. She probably would think of him as the best husband in the world if it wasn’t for the bleak years.

she had spent with him. All she felt how, however, was the cruel irony of it…

At first, he thought she’d reject his help. He had gotten used to being rejected by her recently.

To his surprise, she agreed to let him dress her wound.

He stared at her for a moment before calling room service and ordering a few of the hotel’s signature dishes. He even ordered the hotel staff to buy a milkshake for Zoe.

It was clear he was doting on her, but it only served to make her feel more disheartened.

He actually knew how to put these moves to use, but he didn’t bother with them in the past because she wasn’t worth the trouble back then.

Mason came to her with a first aid kit in his hands. Taking off her bandages, he unbuttoned her knit dress with gentleness and proficiency.

Zoe trained her gaze on his hands.

He knew what was going through her mind. So, he explained, “I studied medicine in the past! It’s not because I’m good at taking clothes off of women! Like I said before, you’re the only one I’ve ever slept with.”

She retorted calmly, “Having feelings for another woman is no different than cheating!”

Looking at her, he didn’t explain himself. Instead, he asked her, “Does it still bother you? Tell me, Zoe. Tell me that you still care about me!”

He cared that she was bothered about him having feelings for someone else. If she did care about it, then that meant their marriage had yet to reach the end of the line.

This was exceptionally important to him!

He might’ve asked it eagerly, but she merely replied casually, “I’m merely stating a fact. It doesn’t have anything to do with whether I care about it or not. Aren’t you supposed to dress my wound? Hurry up. I’m cold.”

Looking at her, her clothes were partially opened, revealing fair skin and a slender figure. More importantly, her bruises and cuts were all but healed.
