I Refuse to Divorce! by Light Breeze Chapter 207

Chapter 207

Zoe received Mason’s call in the middle of the night. It was raining heavily outside and his voice was muffled, “Come over to the manor at four o’clock in the afternoon tomorrow. We’ll talk about the

divorce.”

She was startled.

She knew she had him where she wanted him and how he was going to react, but she didn’t think it’d be this smooth. He was agreeing to the idea of a divorce that easily.

Various emotions washed over her and stunned her for a good while.

She came to her senses eventually and said, “Let’s talk about it in the

law firm!”

However, he was adamant about it. I don’t want a third person to come between us. Come back to the manor, Zoe. Otherwise, we’re

done!”

Lowering her gaze, she said lightly, “Someone already came between us. That’s the problem! It’s pointless to argue with you, Mason. If you want to have the talk at your manor, then we’ll do it that way. I’ll be

there on time.”

With that, she hung up the phone. The rain continued to pour as she stared out the window and into space.

Zoe arrived at the manor at precisely four o’clock in the afternoon the next day. Layla and the other servants had guessed the reason she was here, so they remained quiet about it.

Layla said to her while she was leading her upstairs, “Mr. Mason was

already home by noon. He’s been sighing in the lounge ever since”

Zoe didn’t say anything in response,

she didn’t dare to say

anything anymore. Then, she went back downstairs when they arrived at the second floor

Zoe opened the door gently. The lights were off in the lounge and it was almost completely dark in there, Mason was sitting on the couch, still wearing the three-piece suit. He didn’t even take off the cost. He simply sat there with a blank expression.

There was a divorce agreement on the coffee table in front of him

She closed the door and sat across from him. She was about to read

the agreement when he stopped her “You can read this later”

Perhaps it was because they were about to get divorced, but he sounded exceptionally gentle

Raising her eyes, she stared at him quietly. He did the same thing. After a long time, he asked softly, “There’s something I want to know, Zoe Which incident drove you past the point of forgiveness? Was it what I did to you in the study that night? Or, was it when I chose to save Lilith instead of you, which ultimately led to the end of your

career?”

Raising her head slightly, she fought back tears that were starting to gather in her eyes. The incidents he brought up were nothing short of traumatizing Both of them were burned into her mind!

After a brief pause, she responded lightly, “It’s time! Time has washed out my love for you. Time is the reason I’m disappointed with you over and over again Eventually, that feeling of helplessness ate away at our marriage!”

He stared at her for a long time before asking, “So. You don’t love me anymore. Is that it?”

Lowering her gaze, she said, “That’s exactly it.”

He rose abruptly and walked to the window. There was another couch by the window. It was the same couch where they had had sex

multiple times. It didn’t matter if she liked it, nor did it matter if she could take it. As long as he wanted to sate his lust, she just had to roll with it!

He stood there for a long time. It wasn’t until the first evening light strewn across the sky that he said something.

His voice was very husky when he spoke, “Alright. I’ll let you go.”

His back still turned to her, he kept going, “However, I’m not going to let you keep threatening me with the two percent share. I’m sure you -can understand that, Zoe.”

In fact, she could. All she wanted was appropriate compensation instead of his company shares.

He took her silence as acquiescence. Staring into the distance, he said, “You’ll get two manors and four apartments! I’ll also pay you an alimony of eighty million dollars annually for as long as you’re single.”

After all, they’ve been married for three years. She used to be his wife too. He didn’t wish to see her falling in love with another man.

As far as he was concerned, Zoe was still his wife in some ways and he was more than willing to support her for the rest of his life.
