Chapter 208
Did Mason think she didn’t know what he was thinking?
She responded softly, “Let’s end it once and for all, Mason. That’d be
better for both of us.”
He blinked gently. Instead of answering her immediately, he lit a cigarette by the window, but he snuffed it out halfway through.
Then, he said, “Do you hate me this much? Are you not going to give me one last chance? Fine, then! I guess it’s better if we cut ties completely!”
In the end, they agreed on a five hundred million settlement. That’d mean Zoe would get a total of two manors, four apartments, and the aforementioned amount of money. On top of that, she’d get Liam’s. legal contract for Noah’s case.
Mason proceeded to add the amended clauses to their divorce agreement. He signed it quickly, worried that he might change his mind if he didn’t do it fast enough. The ink from the pen almost permeated through all of the pages of the agreement.
He couldn’t bring himself to see it when it was Zoe’s turn to sign.
It was finally over between them.
Their marriage had come to the end of the line at last.
It was so dark in the lounge that he could barely see himself. Turning on the lights, he shielded his eyes from the blinding lights and murmured, “Pack your things up when you’re free! You may bring the jewelry you used to wear with you. You can wear them again at any parties or social functions in the future.”
“I’ll pack my things now. I don’t need the jewelry.”

Opening his eyes, he looked at her briefly before responding ironically, “Works for me! Let’s settle this today.”
Perhaps it was because they signed the divorce agreement. Both of them felt extraordinarily at peace.
Mason sat in the lounge while she went into the bedroom and packed up her stuff. She didn’t need much, actually. All she needed was her usual clothes and some jewelry she bought with her own money.
She was hit with a strong nostalgia when she went into the fitting room. She spent a lot of mornings ironing his shirts in here. They were just married back then and she was still experiencing that magical feeling. –
There were also bitter memories when she heard that he traveled to Hucksburgh to spend time with Lilith. She had been let down
countless times too.
Suppressing her sadness, she proceeded to work quickly and packed up what she needed. She was about to be done when someone pulled
her into his arms.
The familiar smell of his body made her eyes turn red, “Let me go, Mason! We’re basically divorced! What’s the meaning of this?”
He embraced her tightly and his face was frighteningly warm as he pressed against her neck. With a broken voice, he said, “Give me another chance, Zoe!”
He was almost trembling when he said it. It took everything he had for him to put aside his pride and beg her to give him another chance.
The last thing he wanted to do was let her go and hear the news of
her being with another man.
She was his wife!

She had loved him for so many years. How could she just decide to
love another man?
Hugging her tightly, he even guided her hand into his coat, unbuttoned
his shirt partially, and made her touch his chest.
It was warm and his heart was beating strongly!
Closing his eyes, he said, “You have a place in my heart, Zoe.”
She was pressing closely against his chest while she leaned her head on him.
This was sad. Why did he have to say something like this when they had signed the divorce agreement and cut off their ties completely? So what if she had a place in his heart? He never failed to choose Lilith over her when it mattered. He also never cared about her feelings and forced himself on her!
This s was probably the last time she would lean on his chest.
With a repressed yet decisive tone, she exclaimed, “This isn’t going to work, Mason. We’re done. Stop trying to convince me to stay.”
Pushing him away, she backed off several steps with tears in her
eyes.
He watched as she turned and left. The bedroom door made a creaking sound when she pushed it open. Then, it swayed gently when it closed.
