Zoe didn’t turn back to look. He was a man who didn’t know the meaning of loyalty. He wasn’t about to put his family aside to protect Ella. 

Ella lay on the bed quietly, the way a broken doll would lay in its glass cabinet. Lifeless.

Zoe remained motionless while holding Ella’s hands. 

Seeing this, Mia’s heart broke for her too. 

“You’ve stayed up for an entire night! Freshen up a little and go home. Take a break. I’ll look after her! If she wakes up, I’ll let you know immediately.” 

Shaking her head, Zoe said, “I’m not leaving, Mia! I want to stay here with Ella. She must be so scared right now…” 

She burst into tears.
