Chapter 240
Both of them were quiet when they were done having sex. Perhaps it. was because they were no longer married or because it had been a time since they last did it. Either way, they didn’t feel at ease with each other.
Putting on her clothes, she said softly, “I feel a little sticky. I need to take a shower.”
That made things a little more awkward.
Mason was so eager earlier that he forgot to wear a condom. Of course, it felt good, but it also meant she was going to need a longer time to clean it up.
Coughing lightly, he said, “I’ll wait for you outside.” Then, he went out. The cleaner will clean up the bed and the place.
He was a man, so he didn’t care about that. However, she couldn’t bear to leave it like that. She changed a new bedsheet and stuffed the previous one into a bag, labeling it so Ava would send it to the laundromat. After that, she hopped in the shower.
The warm water cascading on her slender figure reminded her of the sex earlier. He was much gentler than he used to be, almost as though he was competing with someone. However, it was meaningless. Aside from sex, there was nothing between them.
After the shower, she put on the dress she had worn before.
Then, he tossed his coat to her and said, “Put this on. I’ll send you to the hospital.”
Well, she wasn’t going to say no to that.

Mason leaned over a little when they were in the car.
“How about we have some breakfast?”
However, she was tired from all the sex they had. Shaking her head,
maid, “There’s a cafeteria in the hospital. I’ll grab a quick bite
va
there. Pull over if you pass by a pharmacy. I need to buy some
medicine.”
Running his fingers across the steering wheel, he asked, “Emergency contraceptives?”
Instead of denying it, she admitted it. Then, she felt a little awkward again.
Staring at her calm face for a brief moment, he looked at the road
again and said softly, “I’m not sure how you’d define our relationship now, Zoe. Perhaps you think I’m not being serious and you think this is a fling or that it’s not going to last!
“However, that’s not what I’m looking for. I wanted a marriage. We need to get our marriage certificate again.” Holding her hands gently, he intertwined his fingers with hers and spoke softly. “We used to be married for a long time. We should’ve had a baby a long time ago! Of course, it isn’t too late if we start now!”
Zoe was stunned. She said, “Are you trying to say that we should stop- using contraception and start having a baby?”
Touching her face gently, he said, “What do you think about having a baby with me, Zoe?”
Leaning back on the seat, her chest started to rise and fall rapidly.
They were back to where they left off previously.
It was the same as before. Only this time, she’d be tied down by a marriage certificate as well as a baby. She’d have to stay with Mason

for the rest of her life if she had his baby.
However, she had given up on fighting him.
Looking out the window and into the infinite darkness of the night, she said softly, “Ella’s still unconscious and my dessert spot’s about
start its business! Give me a couple of years, Mason. We’ll start trying for a baby when you’re thirty years old.”
What was she thinking?
She knew that he was still in touch with Lilith. The fact was, he took a flight to visit her after the New Year celebration. The old wounds had yet to heal and she no longer loved him, but she went against her will and told him about having his baby.
Perhaps it wasn’t too bad if she ended up living a similar life to
Rosemary’s. She had her own career and she also had kids. It didn’t matter what kind of lady her husband kept behind her back. She could just turn a blind eye whenever it was necessary and life would just pass her by!
Mason felt better when he heard her agreeing to have a baby. Leaning over, he kissed her.
“I promise I’ll be a good dad, Zoe.”
Zoe kept her gaze out the window on the way to the hospital. She didn’t want him to see the tears in her eyes. He didn’t have to know just how much she resented him.
Zoe was back in the hospital. She waited by Ella’s side for the entire night. All she wanted to do on this cold night was to keep her friend company. Holding Ella’s hands, she told her a lot of stuff.”
She knew Ella could hear her and she firmly believed that her friend would wake up eventually.
