I Refuse to Divorce! by Light Breeze Chapter 248

Chapter 248

The party for the opening ceremony came to an end. Zoe thanked every guest for coming as they filed out of her dessert spot. She did some stock-taking before saying goodbye to Ella. Needless to say, Ella could tell that something was wrong with them and she was quite worried.

Smiling faintly, she said, “It’s fine! All couples bicker sometimes!”

Then, she sent her friend into the cab and watched as they left. Crossing her arms, she headed to the parking lot.

The wind blew past her in the night.

She was still thinking about how she should face him later!

Mason drove the black Bentley tonight. He was smoking in the car. Wisps of grey smoke shot out of his mouth and got scattered by the wind, making him look a little cold and alone.

Getting into the car, she lowered her head and was about to buckle in when he snuffed out his cigarette and leaned over, “Allow me.”

“I can do it myself!”

She had just uttered the words, but he had already gripped her hands. They were so close to each other that his voice was making her ear tingle.

His eyes grew darker. “Are you not even going to let me do this for you?”

In response, she stared right at him. He did just the same.”

About a minute later, he sat upright, held the steering wheel, and pretended as if nothing happened. Stepping on the gas pedal lightly,

he said, “Let’s go home!”

However, he was still pretty riled up. So, instead of the bedroom, he slept in the study. The couch in there wasn’t very comfortable, but he was adamant.

He was having trouble sleeping. Then, he decided to play some records. Listening to ‘Méditation,’ he rested his eyes. He realized that this song could always calm him down every time he experienced insomnia. He’d always feel much better

afterward.

After sleeping for the whole night, he was no longer pissed at her. Heading into their bedroom, he found out that Zoe wasn’t in there. The bed was made as well.

He headed to the fitting room and found that his outfit as well as accessories were laid out neatly.

He freshened up and got changed before going downstairs, “Did Zoe, go to her dessert spot, Layla?”

The servant was laying down the cutlery. She said cheerfully, “Nope! Ms. Zoe went to visit Ms. Barbara at her manor. She wasn’t feeling well last night. So, Ms. Zoe got up early this morning and made some barley porridge. It’s Ms. Barbara’s favorite!”

Relaxing a little, he sat down to have coffee and breakfast.

Layla reminded him gently, “Coffee isn’t good for your stomach. Don’t drink it on an empty stomach, Mr. Mason!”

Putting down the cup of coffee, he paged through the newspaper and asked her nonchalantly, “Did Zoe ask you to keep an eye on me?”

She was an honest lady. So, she said as she wiped her hands on her apron. “I saw it in one of the videos about you on the internet, Mr. Mason! It also said that…”

He stopped in his tracks and grumbled, “That’s enough!”

Zoe was all he could think about for the entire day.

By the time he finished work, he thought about how he had given her the silent treatment last night. If he took the initiative to pick her up from her shop and have a private dinner with her outside, then it’d

mark the end of it.

He felt quite good about himself when he got into the car. Moments before he started the engine, he held his phone and wondered if he should text Zoe. Then, he brushed aside the idea. Perhaps he should surprise her.

What he didn’t know was that he was going to be one feeling surprised!

Ten minutes later, he pulled his car over in Skyline Galleria’s parking lot. He saw Zoe talking to Cecil there.

Zoe was holding a bouquet of calla lilies in her hands. She had her

back turned to him.

They merely chatted for a while before Cecil got into her car. Mason saw tears in her eyes when she turned around.

It was spring and she was wearing a light blue dress. Her hair was pinned up, giving rise to a beautiful and elegant sight.
