Evening rolled on and Zoe was instructing the servants to clean up the manor after the party. Her waist was sore from all that work.
Taking a half-hour bath didn’t seem to help with it either. Then, she went downstairs to have dinner. Layla asked her sheepishly, “Should we wait until Mr. Mason comes back?”
Then, the clock struck seven times. Apparently, it was seven o’clock now. She responded lightly, “Serve dinner. We’re not waiting for him!”
Layla knew her mistress was in a foul mood. So, she tried to make her feel better when she was serving dinner.
“This is your favorite dish, Ms. Zoe. It’s grilled salmon! They say that the fish tastes the sweetest in this season. Try it.”
Zoe nodded and took a bite. She had just chewed the salmon once, but she already felt nauseous. Covering her mouth, she rushed to the restroom and started dry-heaving. Nothing came out.
Layla grew worried. She went outside the restroom and knocked on the door, “Is everything okay, Ms. Zoe?”
“I’m fine!” Zoe allowed herself some time to catch a breath before she went back to the dining table. Her appetite was all but gone. All of the dishes smelt awful to her.
She wasn’t naive. Although it took her some, she had a good idea of what was happening. Then, she was stunned by the realization and became dazed.
A long time had passed when she put down her cutlery and said softly to Layla, “I need to attend to some matters outside!”

Layla didn’t give it much thought.
Getting into the car, her fingers, which were holding the steering wheel, started trembling. She was hoping that Lady Luck would take her side, but she had a hunch that she was pregnant.
Twenty minutes later, she was back at the manor.

At that moment, he was leaning back on the couch in the club. He swirled his mug, looking stunning and cold, “What’s the matter? Are you feeling miserable? Are you going to ask for another divorce?”
The mockery in his tone was unmistakable.

With that, he hung up the phone.
She stared at her phone quietly for a long time before she put it down gently. She wasn’t exactly sure what to do with her pregnancy, but she had never intended to keep it from him. At some point in time, she had to talk about their child’s future with him. In fact, she was even thinking about mending their relationship.
All of these would have to wait until he came back.
