Lowering his head, he looked at Gabriela. He held her waist and carried her up.
He brushed past Zoe and said in a cold tone, “See to our guests, Zoe!”
It was an afternoon in spring. The sun was shining bright, but Zoe didn’t feel a shred of warmth. Her husband had humiliated her and made her look bad in front of their guests. It was a good thing she didn’t invite Ella to this party. Otherwise, she just might pick a fight with him here and now.
The party guests started murmuring among themselves.
Everyone was wondering if Zoe could hold on to her status as Mason’s wife. His choice was obvious from his earlier reaction.
That was when Rosemary raced over and said in a fit of rage, ” Gabriela has stepped over the line! She disgraced herself, trying to hold onto a married man!”
Smiling bitterly, Zoe said, “It takes two to tango! She isn’t the only one at fault here! If Mason hadn’t given her the chance, she wouldn’t be able to get close to him.”
Rosemary’s heart broke for her. Then, she tried to console her, “I’ll let her parents know about this! Also, I’m not coming to his defense, but it was clear that he still cares about you. It’s just how men are.
“They’ll start looking for warmth and affection elsewhere if they can’t get it in their own home. You’ve been giving him the cold shoulder due to your horrific past, and I think he felt slighted by you.”

Gregory was quaking with rage. “How shameless are you, Gabriela? Is there no other man in the world for you? Why are you throwing yourself at Mason this eagerly? Do you think he loves you? What a moron! You’re just a tool he’s using to rile up Zoe.
“Have you ever thought that all he needs is a tool and that you’re perfectly replaceable? He would’ve had sex with you already if he really did love you. You wouldn’t have to do something as demeaning as this! Put on some proper clothes and stop bringing shame to yourself!”
Gabriela was a cold and elegant lady, but she knelt on the bed and begged her brother in tears. “We’re truly in love with each other, Greg! Please don’t stand in our way! He’s going to take responsibility for our relationship!”
“Fat chance!” Then, he lobbed profanity at her, “I’ll suck my own dick if he ever marries you! What a fucking moron.”
She wept quietly as she grabbed onto her brother’s leg and begged him to listen to her.
Mason was leaning on the wall across the VIP ward. He wore a blank expression on his face as he savored his cigarette.
Gregory was right. He didn’t love Gabriela. It was just the way she
looked at him, timid and passionate It reminded him so much of Zoe when she still loved him. That included her crying face now it really took him back
