I Refuse to Divorce! by Light Breeze Chapter 259

Chapter 259

Mason stayed in the study for a long time.

Picking up the split vinyl, he looked at it for a while before tossing it into the trash can. Then, he slumped onto the couch listlessly and raised his head. Feeling that the light was blinding, he shielded his eyes.

His hands still hurt from the earlier slap. It was proof of how hard he hit her.

He couldn’t believe that he actually did it. Closing his eyes, all he could see was her faint smile from earlier. There were tears in her eyes. She was a lady who was raised in a wealthy family, surrounded by people who loved her. No one had ever slapped her.

It was outrageous that he slapped her while claiming that he loved her!

Then, his phone rang. It was Ava.

“We’re here, Mr. Mason. Are you coming down now?”

He responded nonchalantly, “Push everything back by a day!”

Ava said without thinking, “The medical professionals are already waiting for you, Mr. Mason!”

His voice was cold and unfeeling when he responded, “I said, push it back by a day!” With that, he hung up the phone.

Ava, who was downstairs, looked at her phone before asking the servant next to her, “Did Mr. Mason fight with Ms. Zoe again?”

It couldn’t be!

She saw, with her own eyes, how happy Mason was when they were

remarried. With that in mind, he should’ve cherished her more than anything. What happened exactly?

It was faint, but Layla heard the slap from downstairs.

After wrestling with herself for a while, she decided to tell Ava everything. “They were fighting upstairs earlier and I think Mr. Mason slapped Ms. Zoe.”

Ava was shocked to the core at what she said.

Zoe stood by the window in the bedroom quietly. She didn’t want others to see her in this sorry state. After all, not every wife was slapped this hard by their husband in high society! It was a shameful occurrence that would make her the laughing stock if the news ever got out!

Then, she heard the door creaking.

Mason came in here with a first-aid kit. Walking over to her, he held her lean wrist, “Let me apply the salve for you.”

She shook off his arm gently and said nonchalantly, “Ava’s here. She’s waiting for you downstairs.”

All of a sudden, his breath caught in his throat.

After a brief pause, he said lightly, “I pushed back the schedule by one day.”

Looking at the view outside the window, she smiled faintly with

trembling lips, “You don’t have to do that, Mason. It doesn’t matter if you leave a day later.”

Her subtext was very clear. He knew it was pointless to say anything because she wouldn’t believe him. However, he had to try, “I don’t love her!”

She didn’t reply. After all, it was pointless to talk to him. She didn’t even resist it when he pulled her aside to apply an icepack to her cheek.

It was as if she was a broken doll that he was manipulating.

However, she wouldn’t talk to him. She shut down all forms of communication with him. It hurt when he applied the salve to her cheek, but she wouldn’t even make a peep.

Mason was heartbroken…

He wanted to hug her, but her arms were crossed, keeping him at bay. She also trained her gaze out the window, treating him like air, as if they were living in a different dimension.

Looking at the side of her face, he asked tenderly, “Didn’t you say you have something to tell me just now?

She felt a lump in her throat and blinked. There was no emotion in her tone when she said, “Not anymore! I have nothing to say to you, Mason.”

His fingers twitched in response.

The next day, Mason flew overseas. He stayed there for about a month. Zoe wouldn’t take his calls or reply to his texts during that period, much less ask about his itinerary and when he was going to come back home.

She had given up on even pretending to be his wife.

Ava told him that Zoe’s dessert spot had found some success. She managed to franchise several shops across the country in just a month.

It was a good thing that she did well in her career. That’d keep her

from overthinking things between them!

A month passed by and he returned to Brookesville.

It was evening and the sky was seemingly burning with how red it looked. A black Rolls-Royce pulled into the manor slowly.

Layla opened the car door for him and greeted him, “Welcome back, Mr. Mason!”
