Chapter 277

Tears filled Ella’s eyes as she said, “I’m going to love your baby so much!”

Zoe smiled faintly in response.

Ella stayed in the coffee shop for a while longer before leaving. One of them had to keep an eye on the dessert spot.

She sat by the window alone after her friend left. The evening light shone in through the glass, casting an orange glow on her face and adding a trace of affection to it.

At that moment, Yanni wriggled in her belly. It seemed as though she was happy.

Putting her hands on her belly, she felt for her daughter and a wave of affection filled her heart. She was imagining what her baby would look like. Then, her lips curled into a smile.

Yanni would be born around the beginning of winter. So, Zoe went to the mall to buy onesies and other things for Yanni. All of them were pink in color. Her baby was going to look so adorable.

Passing by the men’s section, she was stopped by a sales assistant, who recommended clothes to her passionately.

“We’re doing a promotion today, miss. Everything is ten percent off. You’re probably aware that our brand doesn’t usually do promotions. It’s special this time because it’s our anniversary.”

It suddenly came to her that Mason once asked her to buy two shirts for him, but she didn’t want to do it back then.

She pondered on

was, she used to do this frequently for him. She needed to tend to his daily life necessities in the past. However, it felt strange for her to be doing it now.

Perhaps it was because they were parting ways soon.

Mason wasn’t home when she arrived at the manor. Layla helped her to carry her purchases upstairs. Her heart leaped with joy when she saw men’s shirts.

“We’ve still got half an hour before dinner. Go on and rest first. I’ll call for you when it’s ready!”

She was tired and needed rest.

“Okay.” She said lightly before leaning on the couch and resting her eyes. Layla gave her a woolen blanket and tiptoed her way down the stairs.

Then, Zoe fell asleep and had a dream.

She dreamed that Yanni was born and her baby was absolutely adorable. Yanni turned into a young child in the next second. She and Mason were holding Yanni’s hands, taking a stroll beneath a forest of American Elms. Their little girl’s head was tilted as she kept asking them questions.

Then, Mason crouched and carried Yanni. He let her sit on his shoulders in the next second and she called out affectionately,”

Daddy!”

That was when Zoe jolted awake from her dream.

Holding her bulged belly, she sat up, looked out the window, and spaced out. She could still see the image of a young Yanni clutching to Mason’s neck and calling out to him.

Her eyes started welling up with tears.

Layla came walking into her bedroom. A moment ago, she heard the phone ringing in the study and proceeded to take the call. To her surprise, it was a foreigner, but she hung up because she didn’t understand what he was saying.

She was about to tell Zoe about it when a sharp clap of thunder echoed through the sky. After that, she had all but forgotten about it.

Running over to the window, Layla shut it tight and started nagging at Zoe, “A thunderclap in autumn. How peculiar! Perhaps someone swore an oath and incurred the wrath of heaven! Are you alright, Ms. Zoe?”

Shaking her head, Zoe asked softly, “Is Mason back?”

Layla paused for a while before saying, “Not yet, Ms. Zoe! Let’s start dinner first. We can’t afford to keep your baby waiting.”

Zoe smiled faintly in response.

Layla was a thoughtful lady. She went over and supported Zoe in her arms. “Your baby’s going to pop out in another month, but you’re still very slim! My daughter-in-law actually gained thirty pounds from pregnancy.”

Smiling lightly, Zoe said, “It’s a good thing that she could eat!”

Helping her mistress down the stairs, Layla continued chatting with her, “I’m going to help her with her confinement, starting tomorrow. Then, I’ll be back here in a month. The timing is perfect. You’ll have delivered Yanni by then.

“I’m going to bring over my hometown recipe that’s going to help you. It’ll help you make more breast milk. That way, little Yanni’s going to grow up strong.”
