Chapter 300
Mason tossed Eira’s file aside. It was safe to say he agreed with her.
Ava let out a sigh of relief. She was about to take it away when Eira’s passport-sized picture slid out of the file. She tied her black hair into a ponytail and her eyes were glinting.
At first glance, she looked just like Zoe when she was eighteen years old.
Ava acted fast. She picked up the picture, stuffed it back in the file, and got ready to leave.
However, Mason called out to her, “Wait a minute!”
Grabbing the file, he took the picture out for a brief moment and put it back in. He said softly, “We’ll keep her as an intern! She won’t receive any special treatment.”
Ava tried to reason with him. “Ms. Zoe wouldn’t be happy when she learns about this, Mr. Mason. Eira isn’t any ordinary girl. She’s related to Lilith. I’m worried that…”
His voice was even more nonchalant when he said, “Just do what I say!” He had given his orders, but Ava didn’t move an inch.
Raising his eyes, he saw her smiling gently.
“I used to think that you loved Ms. Zoe. However, I realize that what you love is the Zoe who loved you with a burning passion, not who she is now.” Waving the file in her hand, she said bitterly, “You’ll regret this decision one day!”
His eyes grew darker at what she said. He was a little pissed off. Know your place, Ava!”

Taking a deep breath, Ava decided to shut her mouth. She walked straight out of his office. He could still hear the clicking of her heels after the door closed. She, too, was pissed off.
It was plain to see that Eira joined Lockwood Corporation for her own agenda. She used to think that Mason would continue to look after the Wright family because of his connection to Lilith. She didn’t expect him to cease all communications with her family after they saw him last at the airport.
Then, it just so happened that Lockwood Corporation was recruiting. She applied for the position and got hired unexpectedly.

With that said, she still didn’t have a chance to see Mason. After all, he was the director while she was just an insignificant intern.
Sometimes, she would bump into him in the lobby. However, he’d ignore her, and she would just blush.
Everyone in the workplace was perceptive and had experience in reality. People saw through her fondness for Mason and started making fun of her.
“Mr. Mason is married. Moreover, there’s a sea of noblewomen who covets him. Here’s hoping you’ll get what you want!”
Her face was as red as a tomato when she responded softly, “Knock it off. I’m not about to become someone’s mistress.”
Her colleagues might’ve chuckled on the surface, but they were actually sneering internally. The way they saw it, it was no easy feat, trying to become Mason’s mistress. How big of a chance did Eira think she had?
They were chuckling away when Ava overheard their conversation.

Holding a stack of documents in her arms, she walked over to them, her heels clicking all the way through. Then, she swept her eyes across the room before training them on Eira.
It sounded as if she was addressing everyone when she said, Slacking off during working hours means you’re not focused! If you don’t care about your career, then you’d be better off marrying a man!”
Nobody dared say anything. All of them knew how strict Ava was. Moreover, she had the final say in the final assessment.
Just like that, the group dispersed.
Eira was the only one who followed Ava to the elevator. She uttered softly, “I’m not trying to do anything with Mr. Mason, Ms. Ava!”
Wearing a stern expression, Ava retorted coldly, “You wouldn’t have chosen this company if you weren’t planning on doing it! There are so many companies to choose from and yet you chose Lockwood Corporation. Who do you think you’re fooling?!”
Eira felt like crying.
Turning to the side, Ava looked at her quietly before saying softly, seen far too many girls like you!”

At that moment, the elevator door opened and Ava stepped in quickly.
Eira wasn’t dense. She knew that Ava disliked her intensely
