Chapter 301
Mason got off from work early on Christmas Eve. He left his company around four
o’clock in the afternoon. He wanted to buy Christmas gifts for Yanni. Naturally, he’d
get something for Zoe as well.
The weather had been particularly cold recently. So, he bought a light pink LV
cashmere scarf for her. He got into the car once he was done buying their gifts. Luke drove and pulled out of the mall’s underground parking lot.
The snow became heavier as the minutes went by and thin banks of snow covered
the street. Luke stopped the car in front of a traffic light, reached out, and wiped the
rearview mirror.
“If the snow gets any heavier, it’s going to block off the road, Mr. Mason. I’ll come by
earlier tomorrow and…”
Leaning back on the backseat, he fiddled with the toy he bought for Yanni and said softly, “Tomorrow’s Christmas. I’m spending time with my baby.”
Luke went along with him, “It looks like you’re a family man now!”
Mason smiled lightly in response.
Just as Luke was about to start driving, a young girl stood by the car and tapped its window lightly. There was a hint of shyness and timidity on her face.
It was Eira.
Mason stared at her quietly for a few seconds before lowering the window.
She bit her lips and said worryingly, “I’m in a hurry. Can you give me a ride, Mr. Mason? I can’t hail a cab because it’s snowing so heavily.”
Luke was about to tell her off. His master’s car wasn’t a cab and they don’t have the obligation to take her around!
Resting his eyes on her face, Mason thought it might’ve looked pink because it was cold out there. She looked full of life, unlike Zoe, who always looked cold.

After a brief moment, he said lightly, “Get in!”
She hesitated for a while before opening the backseat door. The truth was, what she did was highly inappropriate. Even Ava had to sit in the passenger seat, much less
an intern.
Luke could tell what the young lady was trying to do, but he bit back his tongue. In the end, he merely asked her, “Where are you headed, Ms. Eira?”
It was warm in the car and her face looked redder and livelier in here. She said
softly, “Please take me to Lockwood Hospital. Someone in my family is ill. I have to visit her.”
Luke said sharply, “It’s not on our way!”
Then, her face turned red with shame. After all, she was just a young lady and Luke’s words exposed her real intentions.
At that moment, Mason said nonchalantly, “Take her to the hospital!” After that, he didn’t say anything. He merely turned his face to the side and admired the view
outside.
Dusk was approaching and snow danced across the sky. She was sitting next to a mature, stunning man in a luxurious car. It felt romantic to her, to some extent.
There was a scent of tobacco as well as aftershave, stimulating the innocent and
inexperienced young lady’s senses. It also fed her fantasy.
Her face was red and warm as she stole glances at Mason the whole time.
He knew that she had a crush on him and he wasn’t exactly trying to stop her.
Perhaps he saw a little bit of Zoe in her. The way she looked at him reminded him of
Zoe when she was merely eighteen years old. He was secretly reliving the moments when Zoe still loved him through Eira.
Half an hour later, the car pulled over at the inpatient department.
Mason remained quiet and Eira held the car handle after a brief hesitation. She said longingly, “Thank you, Mr. Mason!”
He merely nodded in response.

Biting her lips, she stepped out of the car and left. The wind rushed into the car in a brief moment and brought down the temperature inside sharply. It also unraveled any flirtatious air in it.
Leaning on the backseat, he ordered, “Back to the manor!”
Luke stepped on the pedal and said, “Young ladies have no shame nowadays. They’d just serve themselves on a silver platter. Wouldn’t you say, Mr. Mason?”
However, Mason didn’t respond to him, making him feel a little embarrassed.
