Chapter 322
At that moment, Layla came in with Zoe’s meal. She set down the plate gingerly tears in her eyes. “Eat it while it’s hot, Ms. Zoe, Just let me know if you want
something else.”
Zoe smiled weakly and thanked her.
It wasn’t a servant’s place to voice out her opinion on her master’s private life. So, Layla left the bedroom quietly and hastily. Zoe noticed and appreciated her
thoughtfulness.
Leaning back on the couch, she finished the omelet and the herbal soup with trembling hands. She felt much better after having some nourishment, but she was still weak from her horrible experiences at the rehabilitation center.
She proceeded to lean on the crib and checked on Yanni before shuffling to the fitting room to get some clothes for herself. Mason held her arm tenderly when she
came out.
“You’re still weak. Let me help you shower.”
However, she turned him down.
Squinting, he said, “I was just looking out for you. Can’t you accept that?”
Smiling weakly, she said, “You’re no longer my husband, Mason. It’s inappropriate.”
He looked at her, but she paid him no heed and shuffled straight into the bathroom.
She had her pride, after all. She didn’t need him or anyone else to help her shower.
She alone knew how horrible she looked when she took off her clothes and she
intended to keep it that way.
As expected, there was virtually no flesh on her bones when she looked in the
mirror. Running her hand across her face, she thought to herself that she was
merely twenty–six years old.
It took her twenty minutes to take a shover and change into clean slathes Masun was standing by the erib and staring at Vanni when she got out of the batineem.
He spoke softly when he heard her footsteps
“You’ll find the divorce agreement on the coffee table. Eve already signed it Read through it and let me know it there’s anything you want to add in there if
everything’s okay, however, you’re free to sign it now. I’ll ask Bernard to handle the legal procedures.”
Then, he raised his eyes and looked at her.
Zoe picked up the agreement and read it in silence. Eventually, she said gently,” Everything seems fine.
A lump began to form in her throat.
They had gone through a divorce once, but there was always a slim chance they’d reconcile again, in one way or another. This time, however, she hoped she’d never see Mason again until the day she died.
Yanni was their only connection. Otherwise, they wouldn’t even have to greet each other on the off chance that they bumped into each other on the road.
first when she
Zoe had been at death’s door twice in such a short period of time gave birth to her baby, and then when she was locked up in the remote rehabilitation center. These experiences taught her to take tough situations in her
stride.
Picking up the pen, she got ready to sign the divorce agreement.
There was no trace of resentment or longing in her heart. She was merely taking what was rightfully hers. She wouldn’t go soft on him and she certainly wouldn’t
feel grateful toward him. After all, she risked her life for these generous terms.
The pen had just touched the surface of the paper when Mason said out of nowhere,” Was it actually you who played the violin for me every day ever since I slipped into a
coma?”
She was stunned for a moment before smiling absentmindedly.

Those were the days. She cried every single day when Mason lay unconscious in bed. Even Noah teased her for that. If he hadn’t brought it up, she would’ve forgotten how deeply she used to love him!
However, she was left starving and freezing in the rehabilitation center for weeks. It was so cold that her whole body went stiff. All of the love or hatred she initially harbored for him became trifling and not worth mentioning!
In a soft voice, she said, “It stopped mattering a long time ago.” With that, she
finished signing the divorce agreement.
She rested her lean fingers on top of it. Now that she had signed it, an odd feeling rose in her chest. Tears filled her eyes as well. She had to compose herself before saying gently, “Get Bernard to process it as soon as possible.”
Mason’s eyes grew darker.
Then, she shuffled into the fitting room without so much as throwing a glance his way. He came inside as she packed up her social security card and other important
documents.
The crystal chandelier above gleamed gracefully as Zoe opened the wardrobe to pack up her belongings. There was a serene expression on her face. It was the same expression she wore when she used to routinely prepare his attire and accessories
in the morning.
However, he would never see another morning like that.
