Chapter 328
He didn’t give her a chance to finish her sentence,
Glancing at her coldly, he said matter of factly, “I’m not interested in you at all! I’m sure even you can understand it when I put it so bluntly!”
Tears filled Eira’s eyes and her lips started trembling. For a long time, she couldn’t
utter a single word.
Raising the car window, he stepped on the gas pedal lightly and drove off.
Eira stood alone underneath the cold glow of the street light, tears flowing down her cheeks. After a long time, she crouched slowly and held herself.
She had been humiliated brutally.
Mason drove straight back to his manor.
Getting out of the car, he held his forehead. He was exhausted. Layla took his coat
and said warmly, “The kitchen prepared some apple pie. I’ll bring you some later.”
Apple pie….
He frowned slightly in response. Layla didn’t even think about it when she said, “Ms.
Zoe loved it very much. She’d make sure the chef made it around New Year every
year. Have you forgotten about it, Mr. Mason?”
Then, he smiled faintly. He hadn’t even taken Zoe to dinner dates frequently in the
past, much less knew about this habit of hers.
Sitting by the dining table, he took the newspaper and started reading it. Then, he
pretended to say casually, “I guess there’s no harm in having a slice.”
Layla left to do her chores.
Moments later, he spaced out watching the servants serving several dishes on the dining table, including the apple pie.
Casting his glance upstairs, he recalled that Yanni’s cries used to fill the entire
house. Her toys and other things used to be all over the place too.
Now, however, the place looked empty without them.
Be that as it may, he would still return home every night. It didn’t matter if no one
was waiting for him to come home. Some of Zoe and Yanni’s personal belongings were still there. Sometimes, he’d look at them and try to convince himself that she
merely went back to her parent’s place for a visit. She’d be back by his side someday.
It was midnight and he was having trouble falling asleep.
He recalled how she said goodbye to him with a smile earlier tonight. After some
thought, he concluded that she still loved him and that there was still a chance for
them to reconcile again.
Moments later, he couldn’t resist giving her a call.
It rang for a while before she answered it. Her voice was a little husky, making it
sound more charming, “Is it an emergency, Mason?”
He remained quiet for a few seconds and said softly, “Nothing like that! I just wanted
to hear your voice.”
She chuckled at the other end of the phone, and said, “We’re divorced. There’s
nothing left between us, aside from Yanni. Stop putting me in a difficult position,
Mason. There’s no way we can be together ever again!”
His heart sank at what she said.
At the next moment, she hung up the call, lowered her head, and stared at her phone.
in a daze.
Mia put on a coat for her. She overheard their phone conversation and knew Mason
was on the other end of the line. She said gently, “You made the right decision. So,
you shouldn’t get upset over someone like him. It’s not worth it.”
Zoe smiled faintly in response. “I’m fine, Mia. I’m just concerned about Yanni.”
Mia sighed lightly and went back to her room.

After a brief moment, Zoe raised her hand to touch her lips. She wanted a peaceful
life, but it didn’t seem like he was going to let her go after all. He forcefully kissed
her downstairs earlier that night. That was what helped make up her mind to leave
Brookesville for good.
There were one–way flight tickets on her makeup table. It read, “From Brookesville
to Silvercrest.”
The next day, Mason was hosting the shareholders meeting in Lockwood
Corporation.
The meeting went on intensely when, suddenly, Ava threw the conference door
open and raced toward him. She whispered in his ear, “Ms. Zoe is leaving
Brookesville and she’s taking her entire family with her. Their flight is in the air as
we speak!”
