Chapter 335
Zoe’s heart sank when she heard what Yanni said:
Taking off her coat, she sat next to her daughter and rubbed her head. “Were you a good girl today? Did you take your pills?”
She turned on the night light, casting a warm glow in the room.
Yanni buried her face into the pillow listlessly. Her cheeks were fair and her hair was as black as coal. She looked beautiful and graceful. Then, she said softly,” Grandma gave me the pills! They tasted bitter.”
Zoe’s heart could just break. Holding Yanni’s checks, she said, “You’ll stop having nosebleeds once you go through the surgery. You won’t have to take any more pills
either.”
Yanni nodded in response.
Leaping into Zoe’s arms, she said, “I miss Dad, Mom! Deborah said I’ll be seeing Dad soon. Is it true? She also told me that you’re going to make another baby with Dad.”
That stunned Zoe.
Deborah must’ve overheard her exchange with the doctor and told Yanni about Mason. She wasn’t pleased with it. Perhaps it was time she had a talk with Deborah
tomorrow.
With that said, she didn’t let anything show on her face. Kissing Yanni’s cheeks, she said tenderly, “Yeah. You’re going to see your dad soon.”
The little girl couldn’t help but get excited and did a somersault on the bed.
She felt a pang of guilt in her heart. She had lied to Mason tonight. As far as he was
concerned, Yanni was still in Silvercrest.
However, the truth was that Yanni returned to Brookesville with her. It was the
better place for Yanni’s condition. Naturally, it’d make it easier for her to look after
her daughter if she was by her side.
It wouldn’t be long until Mason ran into Yanni.

It was the middle of the night and Yanni had fallen asleep.
Zoe took a shower and lay down next to her daughter. She was feeling gloomy. Naturally, she took it out on Mason when he called her. Her voice was cold when she said, “Is there something you want, Mason?”
He was lying on his bed while he talked with her. It was dark in the bedroom. He said with a husky voice, “I’m staying at Kirk Manor now, Zoe.”
She remained quiet for a while before responding, “It belongs to you now. You can stay there. There’s no need for you to tell me about it.”
Now, it was his turn to remain quiet. After a brief moment, he smiled bitterly, “Are you going to say that there’s nothing between us and that I should stop calling you? Are you going to ask me to stop showing up before you? The fact is, you still hate me. Is that right?”
Zoe hung up on him.
Lying on her bed quietly, she thought about what he had just said. Hatred didn’t even begin to describe her feelings for him after what he put her through!
It was true. She did hate him!
Burying her head into the pillow, she fell into deep thought. She hated him, but she had to have another baby with him. She wanted to try having a tube baby, but the doctor said she wasn’t fit for it. The only way she was going to have another baby
was by having sex with a man.
Fate is a cruel mistress, sometimes.
Their split wasn’t exactly graceful, but she had been adamant about leaving him for good. Now, however, she had to crawl back to him and sleep with him.
Turning her head to the side, she buried her face deeper into the pillow. Her lips
were trembling lightly.
This wasn’t what she wanted.
Mason sent her a friend request on social media, but she rejected him.
He couldn’t help but feel disappointed. However, she was back to Brookesville. Time
was on his side. He’d take Yanni back to his place someday. Then, Zoe would feel
lonely and they’d have a chance to reconcile again.
Wearing a bathrobe, he lay on the bed, holding one of her pearl earrings.
He was a man with desires. His libido might’ve been dormant due to emotional
blockage all these years. So, he hadn’t masturbated as frequently as he should have.
Tonight, however, he could no longer hold it back. He needed to release some
tension.
