Chapter 340‘
Zoe felt a lump in her throat.
She couldn’t utter a single word.
Mason was distressed to see her like this. So, he stopped touching her and pressed his head against her forehead instead. “We can start over as long as you’re willing to give it a go! Give me a chance to look after you and Yanni. Please?”
He was so humble. It almost seemed as if their split was nothing but a dream.
They were still in the middle of their talk when Yanni woke up and called out to her.
“Mommy!”
The little girl was wearing onesie pajamas and holding a small pillow under her arm. She walked out of her room in her bare feet. It was a good thing the apartment
was as warm as it was in spring.
Her eyes widened when she saw her Mom and Dad hugging. Her head was slightly bigger than her body, making her look that much more adorable.
Lowering his head, he looked at her and said, “We’ll talk about this later!” With that, he let go of her and walked over to carry Yanni in his arms.
It was about eight in the night. Yanni must’ve been hungry. So, he asked softly, “Do
dinner?” you want something to eat? How about I make you
Yanni was still in a daze from her sleep. She hadn’t completely woken up yet. Leaning on Mason’s shoulder quietly, she gripped his shirt tightly, searching for a
sense of comfort.
He was completely overtaken by a heartwarming feeling. Then, he stared at Zoe intensely and said, “Straighten yourself up a little! I’ll hang out with Yanni!”
Walking back to her bedroom, she turned on the faucet and splashed cold water on her face. Raising her eyes, she lifted her hands and touched one of the pearl
earrings. She couldn’t shake the feeling that Mason knew more than he was letting
on, but she couldn’t be sure about it.

Moreover, it looked like he had changed too.
He was no longer acting ruthlessly. He could wrap any lady around his finger if he
set his mind to it. Based on their little interaction just now, she was sure he wanted
to take things to another level. However, she could tell that she would be safe even if
she was truly alone with him. He wouldn’t do anything to her.
He might look like he was treating her affectionately, but he was actually
maintaining a distance from her.
The realization threw her off a little. She wasn’t sure how she should handle Mason
when he was like this.
By the time she felt ready and left her room, he had finished making a set of meals
for their daughter. It was amazing how he managed to do it in such a short amount
of time.
He was sitting on the dining chair, wearing a deep gray shirt and long pants,
highlighting his slender figure.
It didn’t matter how she looked at it, he just didn’t look like a man who did house
chores.
Yanni sat on his arms, snuggling both of her bare feet in his torso for warmth. He
was feeding her every single mouthful of the food.
Perhaps it was because her father was there, but Yanni was enjoying her meal more
than she usually did.
All sorts of emotions rose in Zoe’s chest now.
She might’ve hated Mason, but she figured she had no right to strip Yanni of her
right to be loved by her father. She knew she used to accuse him of not knowing
how to love someone, but the fact was that he treated Yanni well.
Raising his arm, he let his little girl lean on it.
It seemed he knew what was on Zoe’s mind because he said softly, “I learned to cook
during my downtime in the past couple of years. I thought I could take care of both
of you when you guys return to Brookesville.”
He raised his eyes to look at her Zoe did the same thing. Their painful history and emotional scars flashed in their eyes as they stared into each other’s eyes.
In the end, she turned her face to the side and confessed, “I’m moving to Silvercrest
for good!”
His eyes grew darker.
Then, she added, “Stop waiting for me, Mason. We’ll never be together ever again“”
Not caring that Yanni was on his lap, he asked Zoe, “Well, then. Why didn’t you push me away earlier? Why did you let me pleasure you the way I did? You clearly know that I wouldn’t force it on you if you didn’t want it!”
