Chapter 359

He hadn’t been a good enough father to Yanni!

The smoke started to sting his eyes, causing tears to well up in his eyes. He didn’t even dare to think if something bad really happened to Yanni. How painful would it be for his baby girl? How would Zoe take

it?

Forgiveness seemed like a luxury now.

All he wanted was for them to be safe and sound.

Dawn had just broken when he made a trip to the Beacon of Hope Church. It was an ancient church in the mountains. The place was kept pristine and not a speck of dust could be found.

He wasn’t a religious man, but he knelt and prayed for four straight hours, in an attempt to secure a miracle.

He ran into a priest who was praying when he was about to descend the mountain. The priest pointed at him and mocked him, “No amount of prayer or donations is going to wash your sins away. The only way you can redeem yourself is by paying your debts in blood!”

Then, the priest continued to murmur when he walked away, “There are countless unfaithful men in the world. How many among them are willing to sacrifice themselves for their wives and kids? How absurd! How ironic!”

Mason, on the other hand, froze where he stood. Holding the cross in his hands, he faced the priest and said, “I’ll do it!”

He had done far too little for both Zoe and Yanni.

If he couldn’t give them the love they deserved, then the least he could do was give them his life. He’d be more than willing to do it.

Mason didn’t return to the hospital when he left the church. Instead, he went back to work. Sitting in his office, he relayed an order to Ava. I want to see Walter now. I need his legal advice about making a will.”

She gasped and said, “You’ve only just turned thirty-three years old, Mr. Mason!”

He responded indifferently, “We never know what’s going to happen. Fate’s like that sometimes. Now, call Walter over!”

Ava was afraid to ask further questions. So, she left to do his bidding!

Moments later, Walter arrived at his office.

The three of them were alone in there. Ava was careful not to breathe too loud while Mason was talking in an unusually calm tone, “If I should die from illness or accidents, I want Zoe, my wife, to inherit the entirety of my shares of Lockwood Corporation, including my

other stocks and properties. She’ll have it all.”

Walter was taken aback by what he said. “Are you absolutely sure about this, Mr. Mason?”

He responded nonchalantly, “Absolutely! Start drafting the will!”

However, Walter couldn’t help but remind him again, “Ms. Zoe isn’t your wife now, Mr. Mason.”

At first, he didn’t say anything. He stood up, walked over to the window, and looked outside.

After a long time, he said, “How is she not my wife? She loved me since she was eighteen years old. Then, she got married to me at twenty-one. I was the only man she ever loved between eighteen to twenty-six years old. On top of that, we had a baby together. So, tell me. How is she not my wife?”

Tears started to fill Walter’s eyes. Taking off his spectacles, he wiped it and said, “Alright. I’ll do as you say!”

Mason sobbed as he said, “Don’t announce it! You can show her my will if such a day should come.”

The lawyer said softly, “Understood, Mr. Mason. You can count on me.”

Then, Ava sent him off and went back to Mason. “Is it because things aren’t looking good for Yanni?”

Looking at the sky, he said softly, “I’ve been waiting for her return all these years. I did a lot of things to try to make it up to her. I even set up Sanders Group again, just so I could surprise her on the day that Noah regains his freedom.

“However, I realized something, Ava. There’s nothing I can do to win her back! She hates me now just as much as she used to love me in the past.

“It’s my fault that Yanni is so sick.

“If this is the universe trying to punish me, I wish it would just make me suffer, instead of tormenting the people I love. I no longer fancy the possibility that she’d forgive me. All I ask is that she’d forgive m on the day that I die.”
