Chapter 386 

The walls in the VIP suite were painted light pink. It was heartwarming to look at. 

However, Yanni was still looking very fragile. 

Lying down on the white pillow, she opened her eyes and asked her mom a question that she had been holding back for a long time, “Am I going to die, Mom?”

Yanni was still feeling very weak. Leaning on her mom, she 

murmured, “Why can’t I go to school like ordinary kids? If you and Dad are going to make a little brother for me, I hope he’ll be all healthy and fit. You have to make sure he’s handsome too. That way, you and Dad will still have a good-looking baby when I’m gone!”

Then, she opened the door and went out. She needed some space to calm herself down. Otherwise, she’d lose her mind. 

Mason was standing at the door and stopped her. He took her to his office and let her have her breakdown there. Not even the warm sunlight or the cup of water he offered her could soothe the intense fear that gripped her heart. 

Raising her head, she glanced at her and said in a shaky voice,” Yanni’s condition has gotten worse! She might not be able to last until our next baby is born…” 

Gripping her shoulders, he urged her to calm down, but she simply couldn’t do it. It felt as if the universe had taken away the only hope she had when the doctor told her about Yanni’s condition. There was no way she could calm herself. How could she when Yanni asked her if she’d die…?

Burying her head in his shoulder, she chomped on him fiercely and murmured, “She knew about everything, Mason. She knew about her condition…” 

All Mason could do was keep holding her in his embrace. He didn’t feel any pain in his shoulder because Yanni was suffering from pain miles more intensely than he did.

He knew Zoe could live a happy life with Yanni, even if he wasn’t in the picture. On the contrary, she’d never know the definition of happiness if she lost Yanni. At the same time, she’d hate him for an eternity as well.

A tear fell out of the corner of her eye. 

Leaning over, he brushed away her tears with his lips and looked at her intensely. She might not have known it then, but he was bidding her farewell quietly with every passing second. 

Mason stood by himself in the office briefly after she left. He was admiring the yellowing leaves on the American Elms outside the window. This time next year, he would no longer be by Zoe and.

Then, someone opened his office door. He glared at Mason and spoke with repressed anger, “Are you out of your damn mind, Mason? You’re basically killing yourself if you choose to save Yanni this way! 

Instead of turning around, he kept his gaze on the view. 

After a brief moment, he said calmly, “Yanni couldn’t wait until the next baby is born. She has to have the surgery as soon as possible! Why don’t you give me some bright ideas, Cecil? What choice do I have? Am I supposed to let the doctors extract half of the bone marrow from Zoe’s body to save Yanni?”
