I Refuse to Divorce! by Light Breeze Chapter 405

Chapter 405

Zoe tried, but failed to break free. Mason kept a tight grip on her. His left arm was deceptively powerful. Staring into her eyes, she realized there was unbridled lust in them.

She had no idea if her words had hit him hard because he loosened his grip the next moment. After that, not only did he let her go, but he also apologized to her genuinely, “I’m sorry, Zoe. I acted out of line!”

Her lips were trembling as she rose to her feet. At that moment, her phone rang. Throwing him a glance, she took the phone out of her Pouch and was surprised when she saw the caller’s name.

as Leslie.

He asked her out in a very polite manner, saying that he wanted to welcome her back to Brookesville.

She wondered about it for a second and agreed to it. Mason looked at her as she hung up the phone. “Have you been hanging out with Leslie?”

“Sometimes,” she said lightly.

She was talking to him gracefully again. Looking at Mason, her mind traveled back to about a year ago when she was four months

regnant with Jamie.

It was Ella and Farley’s wedding ceremony.

She had been waiting for him before her friend’s big day, wondering if he’d ever come all the way to Silvercrest. She was looking forward to seeing if he’d regret his choice back then when he attended the ceremony and saw that she was pregnant.

However, he didn’t show up at all.

That was when she had completely given up on him.

The moment Ella and Farley’s wedding ceremony ended, she stopped holding out for his appearance and started moving on from him,

albeit slowly.

A few days ago, David confessed his love for her and she agreed to be his girlfriend.

The thought of Ella made her feel a little disheartened. She said.

softly, “Farley passed away! Ella plans to move back to Brookesville with his kid and continue the business here. I’m merely meeting up with Leslie out of courtesy!”

on didn’t press further.

e saw the look on her face and said out of nowhere, “Were you waiting for me to show up during their wedding ceremony? Were you still hoping to reconcile with me back then, Zoe?”

Raising her head slightly, she said, “What’s the point, Mason? It’s already over between us.”

Smiling bitterly, he said, “I guess you’re right! You’re with David now.”

She seemed so cold. So, he suggested he’d send her back to her apartment. At first, she wouldn’t agree with it, but he was adamant about it. He even asked Luke to bring the car around.

“We need to talk about our kids.”

Our kids, he said….

She was stunned for a second. Then, she stopped fighting him and got into his car. Luke helped his master up, packed up his wheelchair in the trunk, and helped him into the backseat. She lent a hand to Luke without even thinking about it.

His body went stiff in response.

Then, Luke started the engine and drove the car, passing by the graffitied wall and the park. Both of them had a good time with Yanni here in the past. They even passed by the rehabilitation center.

The drive was basically a tour of their entire marriage, from start to

finish.

No one uttered a single word.

Zoe actually wanted to ask him something on multiple occasions, but she chickened out every time she was about to open her mouth. She got the sense that Mason was even more twisted than he had ever been. There was something seriously wrong with him.

“Are you having a hard time with Gabriela?” She allowed herself to ask this question because she figured she’d express a little concern

to her kids’ father.

Snorting, he said, “Everything’s great! We’re compatible on so many

levels.”

His response bored her. He only ever talked about sex, it seemed.

That was why he emphasized that he was compatible with Gabriela. Perhaps she should pushed him to visit an andrologist. He might had hypersexuality or something.

Half an hour later, Luke pulled the car over at her apartment. Instead of getting out of the car, she leaned over and glanced at him, “Didn’t you say you wanted to talk about our kids?”

Leaning back on the seat, he pondered on it for a while before asking Luke to give them some space.
