Chapter 413
“I drafted up the agreement as a joke, Zoe! The truth is, I never loved you!”
These memories were so overwhelming that they were suffocating
her.
Raising her head slightly, she tried to fight back her tears. At that moment, it started to drizzle. The raindrops drenched her clothes, but e paid them no mind. In fact, she needed the chilling rain to put out e anxiety in her heart.
Then, she started walking in the rain.
Eira’s words were stuck on a loop in her mind.
“Do you honestly think Mr. Mason would ever love another lady? Do you really think he’s the kind of man who’d abandon his kids just to be with another woman?”
All of a sudden, she stopped in her tracks. There was a high-end bridal boutique by the street. Looking through the glass, she could see a pretty lady trying on her wedding dress. There was a young man.
next to her too.
They
→ so intimate and close to each other that they could only be a couple. However, Zoe was stunned by the sight. It was as if someone cast a spell on her because she was boring into the lady. It wasn’t some random woman.
That was Gabriela! She was about to get married!
Didn’t Gabriela show up at Kirk Manor when she went back to pack her stuff all those years ago? Didn’t she assert herself as the

mistress of the house? She was supposed to be with Mason. So, why was she getting married to another man?
She stared at them blankly, her feet rooted to the spot.
The truth was laid bare before her.
However, it was so ruthless that she was having trouble taking it in. Just how big of a sacrifice did Mason make? She hesitated to imagine how Mason had spent the past few years… What was more, how had it been for him to show up before her?
He had popped up out of nowhere back at Rosemary’s birthday party. She actually said to him point blank that she was already with someone else!
The rain started getting heavier.
Zoe’s face was completely wet, but she couldn’t be sure if it was due to the raindrop or her own tears.
At some point, Gabriela noticed her.
Both of them stared at each other through the glass. Gabriela had long moved on from Mason, but Zoe had just fallen back into her convoluted love for him.
It was hard to read what was on Gabriela’s mind at that moment.
Eventually, she realized that Zoe was standing in the rain without anything to shelter herself. Then, she saw the anguish in her eyes and knew she must’ve known something. So, she asked the sales assistant to let Zoe in.
The sales assistant wouldn’t do it at first. The carpets in the boutique
and ZoR S
were imported drenched from head to toe. She knew Zoe would ruin the carpet if she let her in.

Still fixing her gaze on Zoe, Gabriela said softly, “That lady at your doorstep is none other than Mrs. Lockwood. She’s also the owner of The One Gourmet. She could afford to pay for so much more than your damned carpet! Now, let her in.”
The sales assistant immediately took an umbrella and welcomed Zoe.
A moment later, Zoe stepped into the boutique. She was dripping raindrops and looking downright miserable, but she could care less about it. Taking brisk steps towards Gabriela, she suppressed her emotions and said with a trembling voice, “I want to know the truth, Gabriela.”
Gabriela hesitated a little before saying gently, “Change out of your drenched clothes first!”
Ignoring her, Zoe trained her gaze on her and repeated herself, “I want to know the truth!”
Gabriela couldn’t help but feel sorry and heartbroken for her.
Moments later, she made up her mind and explained. “It’s true! As you can see, I’m going to get married to the man I love! I was never with Mason, Zoe! That’s the truth you wanted so badly!”
