I Refuse to Divorce! by Light Breeze Chapter 415

Chapter 415

Cecil had just left. He told Mason that he was still improving on the formula for the latest medicine he had developed and that he wanted him to keep fighting.

Needless to say, Mason would never give up.

However, it was also true that he didn’t have any idea how long would it take for his right hand to restore its full functions. For that matter, he didn’t know how long he still had to sit in this damned wheelchair.

No one had an answer for that.

He was in a foul mood. The servants had never dared to disturb him, but tonight was different. He heard the subtle sound of a car pulling into the yard. Then, a flurry of footsteps came from the stairs. At the next moment, Layla was pounding on the poor.

“She’s back, Mr. Mason!”

At first, he thought she meant Lisa So, he responded lightly, “Have her wait for me in the dining hall. I’ll be there soon.”

However, Layla didn’t respond to him.

Frowning, he was about to wheel himself to the door, but someone opened ently.

It was Zoe, completely drenched. Under normal circumstances, she was a graceful, exquisite lady. Now, however, she was as miserable as she could be..

Obviously, she didn’t give a damn about how she looked.

She simply stood there, looking at him in a seemingly calm manner. Her chest was rising and falling intensely and her lips were trembling

too.

In fact, she looked so tense that she was just one moment away from

snapping.

Sensing something wrong with her he turned and looked at Layla. ” Give us some space!”

The servant hesitated a little before rubbing her hands on her apron, turning around, and descending the stairs.

It was still pouring outside after Layla left the private lounge. It felt quite gloomy in the manor too. The light from the ceiling shone down on his stunning face, which was devoid of emotion. His voice hinted at the fact that he hadn’t had sex in a long time. “Close the door on your way in!”.

Zoe walked into the private lounge slowly. Once the thick, heavy door closed, it muffled the storm outside, casting the room in an unusual,

serene quiet.

There were so many untold thoughts in her eyes when she looked at him again. It took him less than a second to see through her. His voice was slightly stern, reminding her of the way he talked to her at the entrance of Kirk Manor, “Come closer.”

Zoe felt embarrassed, but she still took delicate steps toward him. She was a step away from him when he suddenly pulled her into his

arms.

They were in the same provocative position as they had been at the entrance of Kirk Manor that night. What was different this time was that he looked more stern now. There was no emotion or lust in his voice. Instead, it felt as if he was out to shame her.

“You’re David’s future wife and yet, here you are, looking for your ex- husband in the dead of night. Does he know that you’re here?”

Her voice trembled. “He does!”

Reaching out, she ran her hands from his dashing features to his neck, then all the way to his hips. She basically caressed every inch of his body.

There were tears in her eyes. “I know everything, Mason! Why didn’t you come clean with me? Why did you keep it from me instead? Worst of all, why did you conspire with Gabriela to piss me off and chase me out of the city?!”

He responded calmly, “You have a good, happy life now, don’t you?”

That stunned Zoe.

Grabbing her hands, he pulled her closer. His refined features were very close to hers. In fact, their faces were pressed together and his warm breaths were heating her lips. The sight was somewhat romantic, but what he said was downright nasty.

“Isn’t what you have now better than ending up with a cripple?”

“That’s enough, Mason!” Zoe was intimidated by his rude demeanor. She even retaliated by wrapping her arms around his waist and kissing him.

The soft sensation of her lips was enough to send him into a trance…

She murmured defiantly, “Stop saying that about yourself! I don’t want tr ar anything like that out of your mouth, Mason!”

Then, it seemed as if she made up her mind. Raising her hands, she wrapped them around his neck and closed her lips on his, kissing him passionately and longingly.
